About the serial numbers, even if the fakes have them, most of the time they don't even make sense. The serial numbers are always 4 numbers, the first and third number make up the month and the second and fourth make up the year in which the item was made. For instance, 0042 would indicate a production date of April 2002. I guess this would mean many items would have the same serial number.

And the comment about it looking like plastic. A lot of people don't know this (especially girls who are LV ******), but the monogram and daimier lines are NOT leather. They are special treated canvas. And for the more popular items, first runs are usually made in france, but the second and following batches are made in the USA, at the LV factory in socal (simi valley was it?).

No I'm not gay.

Actually, I forgot about the two letters preceeding the 4 numbers. So a serial number would be like TH0042 or something like that. I have no idea what the letters denote.

And yes, some items are made in spain as well.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

If it is a fake I'd be interested in buying it, my real coach wallet is going downhill but I don't have the funds yet for a real LV or anything on that level for now so I could use this to hold me over

I think this thread needs to be locked. 6 speed isn't a place for fakes or replicas to be bought/sold. Obviously the seller had no idea that the item wasn't authentic. Once this was confirmed that should be it.

Yeah, thread should be locked and/or deleted. Nobody gave the OP a hard time, but really, anybody that posts things for sale here on 6-Speed has a responsibility to ensure that what they sell is authentic. Since the OP got this as a gift, and did not buy it himself from an LV store, he should have had it authenticated prior to selling here. Simply saying "woops, I didn't know" is not cool.

TK- If it is the 3 CC version check the right flap (the one on the credit card side) and it should be be in the bottom left corner. You have to pull the flap pretty far to see it but it should be there.

2007 models have changed serial number formats. Still two letters followed by 4 numbers, but now the 1st and 3rd indicate the week of the year. So SD3067 would mean made in U.S.A in the 36th week of 2007.

Ok I have the TAIGA wallet in Black..

it says inside
LOUIS VUITTON
Paris
made in France

and the serial code is: CT0074

so it means mine was made in JULY 2004? No one knows what the "CT" means then?

ok so I looked at my matching biz card holder and on the inside flap

Louis Vuiton
Paris
made in Spain

serial code - CA0046 - made in April of 2006 right?
