Looking for a competent machine shop (fml) and would appreciate some input!
Some of you know the z06 has been burning some (read as alot) of oil.... I'll be pulling the motor in the next few weeks for a winter refresh (hoping to only need rings), and I'm shopping around for a great machine shop in the area to do the work for me.
I've already spoken to Justice race engines in Westminster, and I'm aware that Rave proven in Deleware has a decent reputation. What I'm looking for is value for my money, and peace of mind that the work is done right.
I'm willing to spend good money for good work, but I'm also on a budget (if I weren't, I'd just have Lingenfelter do it again lol) I want someone who will be thorough, and communicate well throughout the process, as well as meet deadlines.
Looking forward to some input
as a side note, I hope no one minds me bringing the civic to events instead of the vette while the work is being done lol

I've used Maryland Performance for all of my work and had great results. They aren't cheap but they are very good and know how to make horsepower. Give George Reggio a call and tell him Derrick Mabe told you to call him. He'll take care of you.

I've been in contact with both cgm, and justice.... Cgm actually responded to my email on a Sunday which I think is awesome. Both have been very responsive.
I'll have a concrete diagnoses on the motor later this week, and then I'll make a decision

I just had all my work done at Justice. Great guys, very knowledgeable and a nice shop. I live in Springfield, and I am glad I took my business all the way to Frederick. I had them do a sleeve job and assembly on short block along with machining my head gaskets and setting the heads.

I haven't made a decision yet, as the motor is still in the car at this point. Made some changes to the Pcv system and I'm monitoring oil usage again... Trying my best to avoid pulling the motor if I don't have to!

It sounds less exciting than what has been mentioned above. But Fairfax auto parts' machine shop in Merrifield VA did great work on a 16 valve saab head for me. I removed the cams and lifters and they cleaned checked for cracks, decked and pressed in new seals for $167.
Im confident that they will be able to handle a chev small block.
