MD Speeding ticket 64 on a 55

I got a speeding ticket last night and this is my 1st ticket in Maryland and haven't had a ticket in about 10 years. Last one was about 10 years ago in MN. I am ticketed for going 64 on 55. I was trying to get to the nearest gas station since my toddler son had to use the bathroom. Is that a good reason to tell the judge by using Request Waiver Hearing option? What are my favorable chances? Thanks for your time in responding to this question.

some are too serious on here. I wouldnt sweat it. 64/55 is only 1 point offense in md. Go to court and tell the judge you are violation free and beg for your perfect record. Odds are he will give you pbj and a small fine. No worries

I agree. Wouldn't give the toddler excuse, as it could lead to speeding with a young child in the car. I bet with no points and your kindness, it will be reduced. Good luck.

Great point. I didn’t even think in those lines. I have free attorney services through a plan I have at work. So, I called him and he’s going to go to court and take care of this. Thanks again for the suggestion
