I posted this to a Porsche site first but seems like a moribund forum.
My =left2003 3.2 liter Boxster S is my second Porsche, my first was a 1968 911.=left
I got the first in trade for a 240 D Mercedes, and this one for free.=left
I've heard things about the Boxster, notably the IMS bearing, and am preparing to make some mods, so I thought I'd come here to find out what others have done to theirs. Currently this car has 77K on it and is on it's second gearbox - the first one having shed 6th gear. This one has an issue with 2 nd gear (won't go in, as though it wasn't there).=left
I'm planning on adjusting the shift linkage to see if I can get 2nd back - any thoughts? I've also purchased a used IMS shaft cover and an NJ2204ECP/3S cylindrical bearing (total $90) and plan on making an oil feed from a spin on oil filter adapter; has anyone else done this or have people been paying these charlatans $900-$1500 to solve their problems? (Porsche in Maine, where I live, have generously offered to cure the problem for a measly $5000).=left
ANYWAY: Is this a good car? or should I flog it and get something less exotic and/or temperamental? I'm not bothered either way, just don't to waste funds digging a money pit. I just want to drive it and have a little fun. Other cars in my and my GF's stable are 3 Bentleys, 3 Jags, 32 motorcycles (no Harleys) a 1910 Chalmers and a 1915 Model T. Cheers,=left
