2011's are out!!
I was shocked to learn the 2011 GTR's were already out! I picked up a white one last weekend and they do have a quite a few nice features over the '09's and '10's, but other than minor details, the exterior remains pretty much unchanged.
Few photos: http://pages.prodigy.net/frederickvh1/Cars/2011GTR.jpg http://pages.prodigy.net/frederickvh1/Cars/2011GTR2.jpg http://pages.prodigy.net/frederickvh1/Cars/2011GTR3.jpg http://pages.prodigy.net/frederickvh1/Cars/2011GTR5.jpg http://pages.prodigy.net/frederickvh1/Cars/2011GTR6.jpg http://pages.prodigy.net/frederickvh1/Cars/2011GTR7.jpg http://pages.prodigy.net/frederickvh1/Cars/2011GTR8.jpg http://pages.prodigy.net/frederickvh1/Cars/2011GTR9.jpg http://pages.prodigy.net/frederickvh.../2011GTR99.jpg |
In Europe it is called 2010 model year ... no idea why you guys add an extra year ...?
Have a read Just about all the changes are under the skin for the GT-R. The auto ‘box gets tweaked to hang on to sixth longer when driving in auto, but more quickly when down-changing from fourth to third and third to second. The spring and damper rates at the front have been adjusted to improve feel and responsiveness in cornering and there’s extra cooling ducts in the underfloor diffuser to give additional cooling for the gearbox and exhaust. Nissan has also strengthened the front transmission mount to reduce high-load driveline vibration. Brake balance has been shifted a bit more in favour of the rear which Nissan reckons improves stability in dry weather braking. The GT-R is now Euro 5 compliant and CO2 emissions have dropped by 3g/km. Lots of tweaks and changes but they are all designed to keep the GT-R at the top of the heap, and are the result of feedback after a year in the wild. There are a few more comforts and gizmos added as well. There’s extra insulation in the back seats for a but more peace and quiet and the GT-R gets the latest Nissan SatNav and entertainment system, which gives a 40gb hard drive based system with a higher resolution screen, a 9.3GB ‘Music Box’ for storing CDs and full iPod, USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Oh, and let’s not forget shinier bumpers and gun metal metallic surrounds on the speedo and rev counter. There, that’s covered it all. |
Congrats, nice color choice :D
Any pics of the new nav ? |
Sweet...And here I was thinking there was nothing to improve on lol. Cant wait for a full test vs some other cars with the new suspension, tranny and brake tweaks.

Congrats.

Congrats on the GTR. Any plans for mods?

Thanks guys - I had an '09 in black and didn't care for how soft the ceramic paint was--way too much trouble to try and maintain. I sold it and have missed the car ever since. I can honestly say there isn't a car out there I enjoy more than the R35 GT-R--it is an adrenaline rush to drive.
I'm planning on a BL mid pipe and Cobb tuner, but want to ensure it won't void my warranty. I'll be happy to take photos of the new nav screens and post them later. |

Don't know why either as I heard in Japan they made many of these changes available on the later '09 models. I'm not complaining though because its nice to be able to obtain a 2011 model so early in the year! There are actually quite a few changes, but admitedly none are major. The list I'm aware of follows below. I love the auto headlights and the new nav, stereo system, and usb nav. The only differences on the exterior I can tell from my '09 is the brakes now say Brembo on them, the center caps are slightly darker, and the valve stem caps are annodized blue in color! 2011 GT-R Additional Features:

Add me to the list of 2011 GT-R owners. I replaced an E90 M3 and so far couldn't be more happy with the switch.
