There is more to a car than lap times. I think the Jag is simply stunning (my favorite to date). I'm even starting to win over the wife for it as a possible next car.
Boohoo need a tissue?

100k POS it is. When you can get for 15k more a REAL AM.

it's 97500 pounds. Aston Martin starts from 120 000 pounds.

My point being a little more will fetch you a real AM rather than the jag imitation, even though it's a beautiful car.

I've already contemplated the ownership experience/costs of an Aston Martin vs a Jaguar XKR where I live in Fayetteville, NC (USA). The Jag just makes 10x more sense (warranty, maintenance costs, dealership locations for service, etc...).

Now that the Jag XKR-S actually LOOKS the part now with the visual differences along with some ACTUAL performance (not anywhere near a GT-R, but pretty decent), I'm seriously considering one (along with an R8, Evora, typical $80-150k car range, etc...).

At this price point, it is all personal preference. While I find the Aston Martin Vantage one of the prettiest cars on the planet, there are quite a few negatives of actually owning one (compared to other cars, based on my preferences).

The GT-R continues to amaze me with its engineering. Love the Jag, it is a stunning looking vehicle with plenty of performance on tap. Why buy an Aston with the riduclous depreciation and extra cost of ownership? If money didn't matter I guess an Aston would be nice.

Interesting Scott - thanks for posting. Interesting to me is where the Pcar came in as when you look at the Ring results they are shown to be close enough they have a way to become argumentative. Here they just have to bow down and walk off--LOL Sorry - couldn't resist!

Jasper - fellow N. Carolinian: I can't tell you how many times my wife and I have been out on Tyvola Rd looking at all three side by side as Foreign Cars italia (Austin and Maz dealer) is next door to a jag dealer. It took a year and I got wise and resisted. Unless you are looking for a daily cruiser, I think you'll be disappointed. Go with the R8 imo.

Let me know what you decide to do!

$2,400,000 1:16.8 - Bugatti Veyron Super Sport
$500,000 1:17.1 - Gumpert Apollo S
$650,000 1:17.3 - Ascari A10
$650,000 1:17.6 - Koenigsegg CCX (with Top Gear Wing)
$330,000 1:17.7 - Noble M600 (cold)
$89,950 1:17.8 - Nissan GTR (MY2011)
$660,000 1:17.8 - Pagani Zonda Roadster F

$1,200,000 1:18.3 - Bugatti Veyron 16.4
$660,000 1:18.4 - Pagani Zonda F
$770,000 1:18.9 - Maserati MC12
$455,000 1:19.0 - Lamborghini Murciélago LP670-4 SuperVeloce

$191,700 1:19.5 - Porsche 997 GT2
$50,000 1:19.5 - Ariel Atom 2 300
$69,850 1:19.7 - Nissan GT-R
$300,000 1:19.7 - Ferrari 430 Scuderia

Clearly, the Nissan GT-R is the best dual purpose (street/track) car for the money! The only cars that provide a bigger (track dedicated) bang for the buck are the stripped down Ariel Atom and Caterham!
