It's Official...I am leaving Starbucks

Well, as you have no doubt heard in the news over past few months, Starbucks is going through difficult times and we are getting ready to close over 600 stores and slow down development. I had intended to see my company through these tough times, however, have been recruited and received a job offer I could not refuse. I will start my new position as Director of Real Estate and Construction for all west of the Mississippi for T-Mobile retail stores. I start on the 21st will have staff in Seattle, San Francisco and Dallas and my office is less than five minutes from home with a covered parking garage for my Pcar! I am so sad to leave Starbucks (you know how devoted and loyal I am), however, being a type A who likes to make forward progress, I am very excited about this new opportunity. So, sorry everyone, after this week, you'll have to buy your own coffee! I'll be at Exotics on Main this Saturday and we can walk over to Sbux for one more round - hope you can join me.

Congrats on the new job Greta, sounds like a great move.

Congrats on the job Greta! Sounds like you are definitely making the right decision! GL with your new position! If you're in need of a contractor to build the retail stores, we're expanding into commercial construction (shameless plug)

gretapass Jul 9, 2008 09:20 PM

^^^Thanks - perhaps I'll be in touch. We do outsource all the contracting and have big expansion plans.

Congratulations on the new position. I’m sure you will continue to do an outstanding job where ever you go. I think its better that you left them, then them leaving you.

Congrats on the new position. Now I don't feel quite as bad about boycotting sbux for selling the Sonics to those freakin' carpetbaggers...

Belated congrats, Greta.

Do you know Demetry Vyzis? He and I went to Overlake School together and I think he mentioned that he knew you.
