Want to go to Skip Barber?
Why Florida? As opposed to Skippy's western locations. I'm already holding a 20% discount that must be used by next summer. I was thinking of heading back to Monterey. I couldn't do the 3 day school, because I'd have to lose about 30 pounds in order to fit in the car. I tried sitting in one at Laguna Seca, but I didn't fit. The scary part was when the instructor said, "That's OK we can take the body work off and get you in the seat then put the body work back on around you." NO FREAKIN' THANKS!

I wanted to go before I got out of school because I am confident I'll be working hard come June. Spring break was the best time for me, Florida was the only location available that fit. I haven't purchased anything yet so I have some flexibility. I'll probably reserve my course in a week or so.
It is Sebring, I'll likely do the open wheel formula cars as the engine is in the right place, and the handling is most like my car.

Skippy bought out Panoz IIRC. It should be fun as I'll likely never drive on Sebring other than this course. Leguna, while preferred, I'll be on nearly every year, along with the other West Coast tracks.

Larry, the Miatas are the same dates/location.
I talked to one of the instructors and he told me that for this school all of their best instructors will be there because they snow bird down to Florida.

I enjoyed the Boxster the most.

timing or not if you get a chance to go to Laguna Seca you'll wonder why you ever headed east to begin with.
You'll have fun anyplace you go any time on a track is a good time.
agreed.
Mark, what type of racing do you do? I'm thinking about entering the Skip barber series. Probably one race weekend in 2009 or 2010, then if I like it, the whole western region the following year.

Well I officially have a date with Sebring modified on in March and the full course in early april. Totally stoked.
Total cost was $6803 which includes insurance. $500 of that total is refundable if I don't hit anything.
Just nailing down plane tickets, hotel and rental car.

i agree why florida. florida sucks. laguna seca is disneyland for adults. driving there would be perfect and it's 2 hours by plane and about an hour drive instead of 5 hours plane plus drive plus 3 hours difference in time zones plus florida bad food plus 6 hours home and Laguna is in Monterey/Carmel. The best place in California
The head to head open wheel cars, the real time professional racing instruction, and the historic tracks here make for great weekends. I thoroughly enjoyed both events and met a several great guys/gals that I keep in touch with to this very day. But please remember that you are not coming to Florida for the food (although we have some of the best seafood in the country) and I am sure that you wouldn't be interested in any of the smokin' hot nightlife on South Beach either.
However, I do agree that you should allow some extra time here in order to adjust to the time difference (and you just might want to check out some of the other great things in our state). BTW, I am not going to disparage California as I am sure that there are some good reasons to visit/live there as well.
^^^Nothing against the school. Most of the schools are good everywhere. Sebring is just history, the track really is sub par to what the rest of the country races on. It beats the crap out of you. I mention Laguna because the track is so good, so smooth and very technical. Not as technical as 17 at Sebring but very good for racing.
Plus for us it's 2 hours away. That's close for the West Coast......

I did the 2day Adv in Daytona...a few years back...It was an OK School....Nothing Great but it was Fun....It would be better if the let you run the full track at Sebring..anyway I am sure you will have a blast. Anytime in a race car on track is a good time
.....You should head down to Miami/Ft Lauderdale or over to Tampa/Daytona if you have time to enjoy Spring Break in FL

The three day is on this course...

The 2-day is on this one...

My mother has sadly never been to Florida. I told her that she would be in the middle of the state and able to go where ever she wanted. "I have a hotel room and a rental car, you are welcome to fly down and use both. Key West is only 6 hours away"
She's excited.
I have memories of Floirda I'd rather not think about.
RLTW! if you know what I mean.

I'll let you know. But considering I'll be leaving Washington in March to go to Florida, Sebring is going to have to do its worst to make me regret my decision to go down there.
With any luck, I'll get a dive in as well.
