My Other Rotary Cars.... FD3S RX-7
Crea,
Congratulation on your car. RE-A is a very reputable company and I'm sure people there will take care of you. Far as reliability... well, i always say change your oil regularily. Car like this, I would change it as much as you can. I use dino oil and change it every 500-1000 miles. I know this seem bit much but you will see that oil gets broken down early on these cars. Oil is also the main source of cooling and if you don't have a dual oil coolers, I would go ahead and invest in one.
besides that, I make sure ignition is well updated and drive it HARD!!! Make sure to redline each time you get in the car and just enjoy!! Rotaries don't like to be driven like a grandma... it actually hurts it as carbon builds up more.

I was actually worried about driving hard on the car, I was gonna baby the car as I do plan to keep this car for a long time. But after hearing what you said about rotaries, it makes me feel better when driving hard on it. I do love to push my cars when ever I have the chance. I guess regardless if its piston or rotor. The key to keep the car in good shape is to redline it once in a while!
I've heard from my friend that rotaries get flooded easily. I'm not sure if he's bull****ting me or what. But he said his engine in his RX8 flooded twice and had Mazda replacing him 2 engines under warranty.

RX8s do flood. And that's when engine is cold. Tell your friend not to run the motor for short period of time... If he has to, the key is to tach up the RPM and shut off the engine when it at high RPM. As RPM drops, after shut down, it will push excessive fuel out of the engine.
But for RX-7s (FDs). You do not need to worry about flooding. Out of my 10+ years of ownership, I never had flooding issues. Unlike other 7s and 8s, FD's rarely flood.
Also, like I said, redline EVERYTIME you get in the car. Don't Just do it once a day or once a week. Every time you get in, tach that puppy to redline (but this doesn't mean you should do it in 4th gear
)
If you don't have a Apexi PowerFC, I would get one and also get an HKS Twinpower. both will make a noticeable performance on your car.
