Where'd you hear that? A turbo upgrade offers MANY choices, how can you put a blanket "stage" on that?
FWIW, I've done a few turbo swaps and have never heard it referred to "stage 4", just a turbo swap. because of the vastly different mod paths people have been taking the last few years, not too many people still say "stage 4" but you'll hear "stage 2" used all the time because it's extremely common to get an exhaust and tune (which is what i've got on my '05 STi). it's cheap and makes plenty of power, so a lot of people just stop there. |

Stage 1 = ecu upgrade
Stage 2 = downpipe plus ecu Stage 3 = smaller turbo upgrades Stage 4 = large turbo upgrades I own two STI's and just put my latest one (2011 sedan) to stage 1 and it'll be at the track this weekend to see what it can do. These stages are common knowledge amongst Subaru die hards. I've only bought two cars twice in my life otherwise I keep switching because I'm a motorhead. The two cars are a 911 and an STI. I've been around the Subie boards for years and after stage 2, There's really nothing as far as stages. Some OTS tuners (Perrin) have a stage 3 map, but that's their line. I've tuned quite a few stage 2 and turbo swapped Subbies, the most recent being a VF39 swapped 2.5L WRX, and a 20G swapped STi... There are no "stages" for them. |

Well we're all ballers on this forum, thats why we can afford "STAGE" packages as the likes of turbo upgrades from shops like Perrin, Ultimate Racing, etc...

Cool. Maybe you should stay on them... ;)

Staged packages aren't what I would call expensive for these cars. However, I personally like to setup my own car and buy the exact parts I want accordingly... Nothing wrong with that. In the end, everything has to fitted and tune for the specific car. I go far beyond any "stage" with my cars anyway :).
Why so upset? I'm only pointing out that by referencing "stage 4", nobody has a clue what that is. As an example, I got two different answers regarding stages on this thread... *How about just stick to the originally posted thread question? Btw... Welcome to the forum. :) |

If you didn't already know about it, there is a website called NASIOC where you will find many more STi owners.

Sti
"Teflon" (Scott) is right on the stages. I love my 2004 STI in Java Pearl Black. It's a phenomenal car. Unbelievably flickable, predictable, hang it out as far as you like but it always comes back-able, etc. With stage 4 mods, I dynoed 343 hp/373 ft lbs at the wheels. Completely reliable, quick, durable. It drives perfectly. Couldn't ask for anything more. An amazing car, period, and then when you do a value calculation, it goes off the map.
