GTS Custom Tune Done in NJ – Great Results!
Already very content with the GTS’ 440 HP but once you get used to the power you crave for more. I’ve had a custom tune done by Apex Autowerks which is located in Clifton, NJ (north NJ). I’ve had it for almost two months now and just wanted to share. Just to start off, the shop works on Porsche cup cars and even parks a few in their facility throughout the year and of course works on other European cars as well. I dealt with John who is one of the co-owners/engineer/mechanic of the shop, overall a stand up fellow.
Too long to type out everything out so here is a summary:
- Dyno was done to get a baseline. 440hp equals 300hp to the wheels due to all wheel drive powertrain drive loss which is to be expected
- Was promised I’d get at least 25hp
- Custom tune was done within the capabilities of the internals
- Outcome is much more than promised!
- Pretty constant power. Night and day difference for me with butt dyno driving.
Have ran the car prior to tuning with stock 20s on winter tires with cool conditions and did 12.8. Would like to get smaller wheels (currently on my summer 22s) to see what I am able to do now.
Very excited and ecstatic with the results. I can’t imagine what they could have done if had a turbo. Was considering an x-midpipe but was talked out of it, instead of just taking my money I was told that it won’t be beneficial to me and my family since I have a toddler. Love how I was appropriately given great advise instead of just saying ok I’ll take the job.
Instead of the dealership this will be one of my shops to go to. If you are highly considering some mods and are around the area, I would definitely look Apex Autowerks out! Just their Instagram and FB page which showcases the amount of quality cars that this shops works on. Happy tuning everyone!

If you're happy that is all that matters. But for what it's worth there is no way you got 95 whp from just a tune on a naturally aspirated engine. That's close to what people get on the twin turbo ones with intake and exhaust modifications. But as I said, glad you are happy.

I definitely cannot argue your point. Supposedly since its a Panamera there was a lot of power to be had since it was tamed down. The tuner did say some cars they could only produce an extra 40hp because it was optimized already pretty well from the factory. But yes I am very happy with the outcome. Hopefully I can get smaller wheels and make a run to see if the times improved in the 1/4 mile.

warranty will only be voided for things related to the tune. (engine, trans, etc)... Let say for example a wheel bearing goes bad, they have to cover it.
Magnus Moss Act.
Some tuner save the stock tune and can re load it if you have an issue.
Also you have to be careful when going in to the dealer that they don t upload and update that will mess up the performance tune, without knowing you had a tune. FYI.

It sounds VERY strange if a ECU tune alone can produce 100 hp more. I can hardly imagine that Porsche where not able to do the same unless they believe that, that kind of tune is way over the limits of what the engine can handle.
