Battery charge rate question

Hey, just wondering what the typical charge rate is. Mine is up to 14.7 now on the drive in. Toronto driving so kinda cool out. I'm thinking of throwing it on an external charger to see if the battery is on its way out.

Cold batteries require higher charge voltage

14.7 Volts is typical for a cold (winter time) lead acid battery. At 70 degrees F, typical charge voltages are 14.4. At high temperatures (under hood, summer time) charge voltages can drop to 13.9 Volts. These voltages will be determined by the system ECU depending on temperatures and battery charge state. You didn't say how old the battery is. That is usually a better indicator of whether it needs to be replaced or not. Supposedly an "impedance" test can be done by the dealership to determine the remaining life of the battery but I've had very mixed results with those tests. I typically replace batteries at 4 years figuring it will have to be done once anyway before I trade the car and by replacing it a little early I won't be stranded somewhere trying to save a few bucks.
In sum, 14.7 Volts in Toronto is fine.

agree with above...

My TX battery in temp ~50°F, in off state, shows voltage 12.2V sometime 12.3V.
After car is started, battery shows 14.6 or 14.7 V.
Hoping that is typical especially for off state.

I suggest to use battery maintainer. Porsche has one for about $300 but you can get it from Amazon. same brand but no Porshe logo on it by fCTEK 40-206 MXS 5.0 for one third of the price. Hook it up ince month and it increase life if your battery too.

I have a brand new battery and mine is usually at 14.7 V. Sometimes it will go down to 14.5 V.

Do you mean to say the voltage is around 14.7 or 14.5 when car is turned on, or when car is turned off.
I would assume on since voltage is higher when charging, versus when it is off, when voltage is around 12.xx
Thanks for update though.
