Panamera V8 Engine and VIN stamped numbers...where to look...
Hi Guys, from where I am, you have to do certain stupid things just to transfer a vehicles ownership to another. In my case I need to submit "carbon stencils" for both CHASIS and ENGINE before they process transfer of vehicle ownership. Would anyone know where to locate these 2 STAMPED numbers? I know those numbers are in the documents and maybe on some body stickers but I need to get to the actual STAMPING and stencil them.
I read in one thread that the CHASIS/VIN number is under the front seats. I looked and just saw carpeting that will be difficult to remove. I did not find anything for the ENGINE number. Help pls. Thanks! |
found these:
Sounds like the Chassis number should be too hard to see - Stamped Chassis Number Panamera Chassis Number is located stamped into the floor under the front seats viewed by lifting the carpet flap to locate it stamped into the cross member . engine number http://delaraspelle.com/porsche/P10C...e%20Repair.pdf page 5 V8 – The engine number is located onthe bottom of the crankcase, left side (5-8 cylinder bank), by the oil pan sealingsurface. Note: Underside paneling needs to be removed. |
Thanks DogWood. You're right, the chasis will be a real pain versus the engine number. I think I have to take out the front seats just to remove the carpet right? Im also assuming that engine # location is similar to the 996 where you can see and access it when you drain the oil from underneath...

You shouldnt have to remove the seat - there is a carpet flap as mentioned in the earlier post.
|
yeah I just looked under my seats, there is something on the passenger side (towards the front) that might be what they are talking about, I can't really access that side very well right now as I'm parked in the garage and there is no way to open the passenger side doors

Thanks XLR82XS! Yes you're right! You dont have to remove the seat just slide it towards the back.
Thanks DogWood! Found the VIN! Here's a picture of what it looks like... https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.6sp...7d0397b3bc.jpg The carpet FLAP under the FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.6sp...a0c62272cf.jpg Where the VIN# is stamped under the carpet flap. |
And now... onto the engine number...
