63,000 mile gift

Driving around on Saturday enjoying the nice weather and the Panamera blessed me with the following "new" lights. For what its worth the car still drives very normal and the lights haven't gone away. I'll be pulling the Durametric tonight with hopes of finding the cause and possible solution. I'm thinking there's a sensor somewhere that needs love/replacement. :)

Oh and its time for the interval maintenance as well. :)

I have had the seat belt light come on from worn out buckle on a Saab 93 Aero and Nissan Armada, It is not a simple click sensor. The buckles have a 'Hall's effect magnetic sensor" that prevent seat belt manipulation and or to get around the seat belt warnings. Google for ABS belt buckle or something like that.

I see you have the corresponding Airbag light which makes sense. Of course it could be anything with the ABS, airbag system. The fix for me was to replace the seat belt buckle since the inside was worn out somehow or the magnet that floats would no longer tell the computer the seat belt was fastened. The sensor 'floats in a range' so you cannot defect it easily. (mV)

First time it cost me 100 to get diagnosed and then i replaced the buckle myself on the Saab. On the Nissan, I just bought a new buckle and fixed.

Hopefully the Durametric will tell you if the ABS and or belt sensor are good or fault and tells you which area, Like, front passenger buckle. You can trace with multimeter or scan tool for millivolt changes but I don't recall how to or if it is easy.

Good luck.

Maybe a dime fell in your buckle :)

or a nickle :) (had that happen, really!)

#TheEnd

Tried clearing all the DTCs, but no good the airbag light stayed on...I need to look at the rest of these and get them addressed but looks like she may end up at the stealership. ;)

how old is your battery?

Going on 4 years...I bought it on 8/3/2016 per the receipt so I'll assume its slightly older. What should be the expected battery life on a Panamera?

Disconnect battery in trunk for couple hours. Make sure trunk does not close on you or you will be looking for way to get in. Ghen reconnect. Then start car and clear all faults in durametric.

Giving it a shot, she's in the garage and will be disconnected all night long. We'll see if this addresses the airbag/seatbelt light.

At the dealer now...initial prognosis is not good as in they believe the code is hardcoded (almost as if there was an impact) but clearly it hasn't been but they are diving deeper.

3 years MAYBE 4 - at least here in South FL where it's hot year-round. I replace every 3 years in the PTT. The original battery in my 2016 Camry just gave up the ghost a few weeks ago.

OEkun1 07-08-2019 09:16 PM

Update from the dealer today: Turns out the main airbag module got a short in it and thus caused the issue and this was some abnormal issue. More to come once repaired and picked up.

OEkun1 07-11-2019 07:22 AM

Here's the culprit here...circled in red. A new battery wouldn't have solved this one. :)

Ouch, looks like the cap blew (lucky it didn't start a fire) - yep new battery wouldn't help much :)
