I'm rocking an AWE exhaust on my car, namely because it came with my car. I really enjoy the sound and it is well built. However, one of the exhaust tips made it's own getaway a few weeks back which was upsetting.
I have always liked the look of the angled exits on our cars so I ordered some 304s and went to town. Unfortunately, as great as it looks, for some reason it has really muted the sound and grumble of the exhaust. I suppose removing the choke point where the exhaust went from 3' to 2.5 made the car quieter? I actually think now that 50% of the sound waves are traveling 90' from the other 50%, the sound is simply reduced.
As a result, I'm looking to see if any other unlucky bastards have lost one of their tips and would consider helping me make a pair again... I need a passenger side tip.
Any idea what these tips were originally from? Are they factory Porsche?
I had recently powder coated them gloss black... ugh...
Unfortunately it appears AWE makes the tips. The Schnell are similar and have a 30 day return policy so I may end up ordering them and seeing how they work.
I ordered 3inch UJ bends from Vibrant in 304 stainless steal and made the new exhaust exits. Basically 10 inches of tubing on each side of a 45' bend. It was a fun day project, too bad it's muted the great sound.
