fuel update 997.2
fuel update 997.2
recently ordered srm stage 1 pump upgrade.my car is a 2011 turbo. (997.2)it has kline catless exhaust and headers, upgraded turbos (bydesign), bmc filter, ipd plenum and meth. it is tune by cobb. it has aprox 588hp/575torque. it best time in a half mile was 168mph
they do the pump at the moment of order so keep that in mind for delivery time. pump arrived in good quality package. after some tweaks for proper installation, including a extra piece quickly delivered by sean it was tuning time. car did gain torque at lower rpm now it has 582hp/644torque (race fuel). . I would say I was expecting a bit more out of it, it took some tweaking and tuning time, some adjustments by installer but it feels good. as I understand the fuel system is a little bit complicated in this cars. maybe more aggressive tuning but I wouldn't wanna deal with many errors.
as soon I have time for further test ill let you know more. now I have to wait for another half mile because the car failed the first time just before the half mile. sean was responsive via text and the phone and he contacted the tuners for doubts.

Update
Well, car broke down again. Some loose fitting in the fuel pump. It got reinstalled differently and now is supposed to be working. Trouble is that the hpfp got a lower reading and the mechanic told me i need to change the hpfp... it's been awful, haven't used car in more than 2 months... now I'm wondering if i need to re-tune due to failing high pressure pump? Any ideas?... also changed transmission oil, sparks and some boost sensor that broke down...
HEY, now‼️
I have SRM bits and am very happy! Sean's a great guy who makes top notch parts and doesn't gouge people with PORSCHETax.

If the HPFP is failing, it needs to be replaced, not tuned around. Especially with the direct injection motors, the HPFP must be performing healthy to run properly. Not sure about the 997.2 HPFP's reliability, but I know BMW with the N54 had to issue an extended warranty (8 Yr/100k miles) on the HPFP because they kept crapping out
What kind of fuel have you been running?

mechanic ordered new fuel pump. the srm one is supposedly working fine, in fact initially had some trouble installing it and some fitting got loose. sean answered and helped. I run 93 octanes.. but use for the graphic priorly showed vp racing fuel. don't know if at this time the pump was recalled, but due to mods I don't think they will honor it if its still available. this week the car is supposed to get out of mechanic and there is a half mile coming up at the end of month.
Well, it didn't ended in a good way for me. Back to stock fuel system. The upgraded one ended failing and not been able to keep the fuel supply correctly. Also it gave some amperage trouble. Took it to 2 different mechanics with performance experience, one of them with more than 30yrs dealing w modified cars and porsches. Contacted sean he told me is the mechanics who don't know how to install. I'm not 100% in agreement with him. So I'm not gonna have my money back unless i work with a specific mechanic he recommended. At this point in time i have spent too much money and time i just want a working car. It wasn't fun to end up in a flatbed at 6:30am and at 5pm in middle of highway. Event coming up in a week I'll share my results. If someone is able to get the pump upgrade working let me know how..,im not bashing anyone's work, it just didn't work for me.

SRM probably has the worst CS backing of his own product of any company i have ever dealt with. Its obvious the guy is a talented fabricator/designer but most of his stuff is released totally unfinished and he seems to provide 0 support that just leaves people stranded.
To be fair, he offered today to cover the installation charge with another mechanic. I'm just not quite ready to have another trial and error. If the car fails again is gonna be the third time. I have spent too much money at this point
DFI is really picky with Euro cars, especially the turbo ones where it's imperative to maintain high pressure fuel trims and ensuring the low pressure side is holding up its end. Are you sure you properly installed/setup the pump controller and wiring?
It would help a lot more diagnosis if you had datalogs with fuel pressure

Agreed!

It is amazing how many times I have heard, "we solved the fueling", or,"1st to offer fueling answers to the 997.2!", just besides myself thinking about how the poor 997.2 guys are still without answer!
The STOCK turbos let alone upgraded (as of now waste of $$) on the 997.2 can max out the fueling capabilities & PDK's on these cars.
I think ADAM's set up is the max you can take these cars to until this voodoo/black magic/curse is broken with fuel in the 997.2's.
I believe many 997.1 guys might of moved forward to the 997.2 if this fueling was dealt with.
Meanwhile we will look at exorcist's to try to cast out this 997.2 fuel demon.
