+1. The stock brakes work very well. I don't get why people complain about them.

I've mentioned it before but... has anyone ever looked at some of the "rings" that companies like Coleman make or the other big ones and figured out if we could use custom hats with them? I've looked once or twice but with no ability to make the hats didn't get far. 350mm is close to 14inches, if we found rotor rings in that size used in a common Motorsport we could be $$ ahead with custom hats perhaps? Whenever I've looked I always felt like there must be other sources I was ignorant of or Motorsports I didn't know about that could be potential sources

I'll goto 997 rotors whenever I need rotors I expect but no bigger than 350mm for my use. Point taken about heating them though!

I have used colemans I had them make for me sitting in my garage for the last 3 years or so. I had makeshift spacers and got annoyed with them when changing disks. They werent making vented dual vein slotted rotors in 330 mm. 350 is the smallest. They are very good rotors though. Sebro was easier, and lasted just as long so I never reordered.

Well the stock brakes work well on a stock TT. You add 200 + hp and a little more braking would be nice. My father in law has a 991 50th Anniversary model, basically a 991 carrera S. His brakes are WAY better than my stock 996 TT brakes but my TT has at least 200 more HP than his.

I really have no gripe with the stock TT brakes, I just would like more braking with less effort.

Stock brake set up is amazing on the 996T! Many people think that the issue is the brakes when in fact it is not enough traction/not sticky enough tire.

I had stock rotors, Pagid PG-19's (yellow), Motul RBF 600 brake fluid and it was rock solid and braked amazing from multiple 280km/h without a sweet. My car was around a 7.45-7.75 60-130 car on pump.

Basically if you can trigger ABS then you've run out of traction at the tire and not run out of brake. Heat from repeated stops is a different issue but if you look you might find some of the ducting missing that could effect that. A larger rotor is a larger "lever" and should trigger ABS even more easily.

Deep down I know that 350mm rotors aren't "needed" on my car but if I'm swapping rotors anyway at some future point I'm doing it for the minimal cost to upgrade. I suspect some of my ducting is MIA and intend to look into it after swapping to a RUF bumper

Like I said, if there is a way to get more bite with less effort(pedal input) with the stock rotors I'm in.

Maybe aggressive pads would do the trick?

This is how I look at it. If you need new rotors, going to 350mm rotors in a no brainer imo. Cost me 25 bucks in bolts, some aluminum bar stock, and 30 min of time to make spacers.

imo opinion the brake from 50+ is much better. Lower speeds where abswill start kicking in it makes little difference

I always suggest running good aggressive pads and high temp fluid. Just those 2 hugely increased braking capabilities in any car.

only downside to the 350mm rotors is the added weight but imo the increase in braking is worth it.

I'll likely need to do the same soon and replace all rotors and pads. Seems like 350mm rotors is a no brainer if replacing. Not necessarily looking for more braking performance as my use is similar to the OPs.

I run stoptech 350's with the OE calipers. No issues.

Where are you guys sourcing your brake parts? I fail at searching for these.

I got sebro slotted fronts from pelican parts and slotted rears from brake performance. That was the cheapest options I found. 500 for rotors.
brakes I made out of alum stock. Bolts I ordered through my bolt supplier but can be bought online as well.

I respectfully disagree with everyone in this thread. Upgraded my brakes to 997tt calipers/rotors/pads - best mod I've done to my car! The difference between these and stock are night and day. Braking is better and much more informative!

Now, I do think that stock 996tt brakes are ok to begin with. On track they don't overheat as quickly as brakes on most other cars. But if your 996tt is modded, every time you hit the brakes, there's this feeling that you're on the edge, pushing the system to the limits. With the 997tt brakes, my driving improved significantly. On the roads I allow myself much more than used to.
