Thanks for the reply Chris. It seems like these sell for a wide range of prices, but I've seen a few go for at or around $500 shipped. I'm holding out for one at that price point.

Well, I guess people have listed them that low. I'm honestly shocked, and both of them left $400+ on the table. Good luck.

I looked around for one of these for a long time before finding a used unit at a decent price.
just an FYI.... $850 shipped is a great price for one. Good luck in seeing a deal at that price again.
$500 for one is never going to happen. maybe in the past when they were less well known and cheaper. but now they are 1300 new, and everyone wants one.
in any case, even at full price they are worth every penny!!!
good luck!

The 997 version retails for 1190. They charge $200+ to re flash to a different software/chassis version. There was a 991 version listed for 900 a few weeks ago. For a 997 it makes no sense to buy one for $900 and then have to reflash it. I could go buy a new one for basically the same price.

Agreed, on the $200 reflash. (and sorry, yes, you are correct they are $1190 new)
But, if you see a 997 turbo one pop up in the classifieds for $900, I would jump on it.
Its up to you, but why wait forever for something that will make your car handle so much better? You could be waiting for years for a $500 997 Turbo box to come up. Buy one for $900 now. And if you see one come up for $500 later, buy that too. Then sell it for $900 and make $400. It will work out the same in the end, just youll have a DSC box on your car a LOT sooner.
If you dont want to spend $900, that's fine. But, considering your 997 Turbo is worth a minimum of $50k, and the overall difference it will make to the car, I really dont think youll be disappointed with it at $900. And again, if you are, just post it back up and resell. The install is easy.
