I'm including the EVO solid billet shifter link ($120) and OEM Porsche shift housing ($200) totally free . Note that using the solid link makes for some very crisp shifts but does also make it a bit tougher to engage 1st gear from manual. sometimes you have to bump it a few times to get it to fall in or go 2nd then 1st. Any "old school" manual drivers out there know what I'm talking about. You don't have to use the solid link though, you can still use your "squishy" OEM link.
To install, all you have to do is remove your OEM shifter housing, put this one in and connect / adjust the cables. The housing is OEM 997. It's about a 2-HR DIY project, less if you've taken apart the 997 center console before (that is the hardest part).
This should also fit 996, boxster and cay but I'm not 100% sure- You'll have to do your own research.
I assembled the SSK using the OEM nylon end shift bushings instead of the aluminum end bushings that come with the EVO. The nylon never needs re-lubrication and it is a lot smoother action with no end play and no noise like the aluminum bushings. The aluminum bushings always end up with end play after a while and sometimes they can feel a bit sticky ater a lot of driving.
However, to assemble the nylon OEM bushings securely in the frame housing I had to use a fair amount of bonding putty over the end bushing caps so cosmetically it looks a bit ugly (which is why I'm only asking $250) - but you could take this to the track and beat the hell out of it, your car will break before this part does as the putty is stronger than steel. it is *solid* as heck and I stand behind it. Once you have the console back on all you see is the shifter anyway, so to me it was no big deal.
Price includes shipping to 48 states or local pickup in West LA.
I am also including the EVO billet solid shift link- This is what it looks like (right) compared to the stock squishy link (left)
