1150hp ProEfi Equipped Spoolbus
#1
It's been a while since I posted anything too exciting about my car. Bits and pieces here and there. There has been a lot going on with it and some stuff is very cool. Most of you know Tim and I put Carrillo rods in the car a while ago and we have tried 5 different sets of turbos on my car. We got to a point where stock ECU was really holding us back, we had some fuel, ignition, tb issues and we didnt know what was causing what. Got tired of guessing and chasing our tail with the stock ECU and this is where Garth and Undercover Tuning came in. Tim and I installed all the sensors in the car and got it somewhat prepared for Garth.
Here is a breakdown of what Undercover installed for me:
ProEfi 128 ECU
ProEFI 996TT PnP Kit
ProEFI H.O Coils
ProEFI CAN Display/Logger
ProEFI FlexFuel Kit
ProEFI EGT Kit x2
ProEFI 5bar Exhaust Backpressure Kit x2
ProEFI Air Inake Temp Kit
ProEFI I-Boost Controller
ProEFI Boost Control Solenoid
ProEFI 5bar MAP Sensor Kit
ProEFI Fuel Pressure Kit
ProEFI Wideband O2 Kit x2
ProEFI CAN Communication Cable
Here are some pictures:
The weather just started getting warmer here and I've had my car home for about a week, I've been trying to drive it everywhere I can. Garth did a great job dialing the car in for drveability and full kill is very fast. He spent many many hours on my car trying to get things right such as ignition, throttle body calibrations, fueling etc. The car made 1010whp on Undercover dyno which is the same model used by EPL and reads similarly low. At this point he is the GO TO Porsche ProEFI man, over the winter 3 ProEFI 996TT cars making 1000+ whp on his Mustang Dyno and 2 more 900hp 996TTs in the works.
We decided to go back to the independent Dynojet I have used in the past at PSI Proformance to see what the car will do and back our numbers up since most people prefer to compare Dynojets and they generally tend to read similarly to other Dynojets. We also wanted to compare how close the ProEfi calculated HP field in the ECU will be to the Dynojet since it has been know to be very close (our logs showed 1150+ hp)
Well this happenned lol..... needs some software update
Power just got to 1000whp and stopped reading there.
wheel speed line should be flat just like the red line i drew with paint, when its not flat means wheels are spinning

Everyone likes flames ...
Before people ask, yes we know my power drops off at the top. That is because we are making over 1100hp on essentially a stock 996tt engine. Yes it is reinforced with Carrillo rods, but pistons are stock, cams are stock, valves are all stock. I dont believe this level of power has ever been achieved on stock cams and valves. Garth spent hours playing with Variocam to maximize the factory setup. Some people will wonder why bother, answer is simple because we can and we want to know.
Cams are next. Tim is cooking up something special, we dont have details yet.
I took it to the track sunday to get some shakedown passes on 18" wheels, not my 16" CCW drag pack. I drove the car 30 miles to the track, pulled up the front wheels twice, made 7 low to mid 10 sec passes over 150mph and drove it 30 miles home all on same E78 fuel right out of the gas pump for $3.79 a gallon. We also had the PBox hooked up for some of the runs for the heck of it and got some cool data.
0-60MPH 3.3sec (1 shift)
60-130MPH 4.69sec (2 shifts)
100-150MPH 3.95sec (1 shift)
Best 1/4 mile trap on PBox 154mph
Best timeslip was 10.25 @ 152.9MPH
60-130
Completely flat surface with no decline and with 2 shifts !!!!!!
There are still some minor quirks to work out but I am very happy and would like to thank Tim, Drew andGarth/Undercover and my friends for all the help and support. Once we have the launch strategy dialed in, mid 9 second passes will come. New 60-130 soon too with less shifts. All my previous spots have huge pot holes after this bad winter we had.

Great write up and an over all fun day! Crazy how a basically stock engine (rods, studs, porting and unicorn tears) can achieve power and trap speeds that you have! Congrats on moving up the ladder.

Mark,
Thats awesome. You and Tim certainly have some badass cars. Where did you have the can guage mounted? I'm going to have Garth do my Proefi as well as I'll be back east for 2 years starting in May. I would love to come up and see the spoolbus and Tim's car as well. Keep kicking *** and those timeslips are awesome.

I now decided' IF' I do anything to change my excellent current set-up ,,
It will be the Pro EFI , when he has his special pricing, and also change to K24/20 billets from my K24/18gs...And that will be it..

You'll be in good hands Garth/Undercover is the king of ProEFI, esp. on our cars. The system has some amazing capabilities and has been proven on everything from Supras, to Porsches, all the way up to the Hennessy Venom GT

Thanks for all the kind words guys. We're working really hard here to bring you the best we can.
TopGun and Aiden is next
Now if the phone will leave me alone I'll get back to work!
There certainly must be a high level of patience to bring power like this and reliability together. We are doing our best for you guys and will continue to do so. Thanks Again!!
