Woops!

BMW NA loses 370+ cars because of a tipped cargo ship at port in Jersey city. 70 of the cars are total losses.

Majority of the destroyed vehicles were brand new E92 ///M3s. If you guys are expecting these cars soon, you might be in for an unpleasant surprise. I suggest giving your dealer a call.

Shipping company's insurance co. is footing the bill.

Those cars not damaged beyond repair will be fixed at BMW's Elizabeth Receiving facility and sold as new cars. Cars that are deemed beyond repair will be crushed.

Now that's sad..
A bit surprised BMW will be repairing them and selling on as new cars too. Surely they'll come with a clear explanation of their unique "history", no?

Feel sorry for you guys waiting for your cars and having to see this..

Wow, their insurance agent must've had a really bad day.

@ the fact that they BMW is simply gonna put 300+ of those cars back on the market (seeing as only 70 are written off).

This stuff happens all the time, though not on this scale; every manufacturer fixes the cars up and moves them on as new. Surely people have seen uncovered cars hauled around on transport trucks. You think they never get damaged?

Most cars have had some repair word before they are delivered by the dealer.

However, what do you think BM considers "beyond repair"? I assume anything with any fame damage is a "total loss"

They got sued for this many years ago for millions of dollars. Dentist bought a car and later discovered the car was painted fully.

After that point on, they set a limit for $7500 or something. If it's greater and they still decide to sell the car, they would have to mention that on the Factory MSRP Sheet that comes with the car

Ill try to find the law suite and the changes it caused to BMWNA.
