2002 M5 Lemans Blue/Caramel For Sale

Year: 2002
Make: BMW
Model: M5
Price: $24000
Mileage: 81200
Color: Lemans Blue
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (State): CA
Transmission: Manual
Drivetrain: Rear Wheel Drive

I recently picked up an M6 so it’s time to let the E39 go. It is a 2002, Lemans Blue over Caramel All Leather interior with Bruyere club wood trim. Options are:

Fold down seats
Park Distance Control
M Audio

The car currently has just over 81,000 miles. I am the 3rd owner and it appears to have always been a California car with a clean Carfax history. Car is currently located in the L.A. area. Clean title in hand.

I bought it in November of 2009 after a long search for the right E39 M5. The car had just under 75,000 miles on it when I bought it. Before purchasing it, I took it to Avus Autosports for a PPI. Immediately after purchase the car was back at Avus for a major service right at 75k miles. The work performed on the car was as follows:

Inspection II: Oil, filter, air filter, fuel filter, pollen filter, spark plugs, Red Line diff oil, and Redline transmission fluid.
Rear brakes: Rotors and pads
Brake Flush
Coolant Flush
Replaced brake light switch
Replaced both rear upper arms
Replaced sway bar brackets with E36 M3 steel brackets
Performed 4 wheel alignment

At 76k miles, the car was taken to Howard Brown and Sons body shop for the following work:

Re-sprayed front bumper, filled in license plate holes
Replaced both front lower fender liners and bumper splashguards.
Replaced both fog lights
Replaced both headlight rubber surrounds
Replaced headlight washer nozzles
Installed AA cold air intake and brake cooling ducts

At 77k miles Bob Smith BMW replaced the instrument cluster for dead pixels.

And finally at 80k miles the car was taken to Avus once again for the following items:

Oil service
Replaced both power steering lines
Replaced both valve cover gaskets
Re-sealed change over valve
Installed E60 SSK

Throughout the time I have owned the car, I have tried to upgrade certain things to the latest versions and added a few simple mods. Here is a list of the things I have done to the car:

Upgraded to MKIV Navigation
Added BMW OEM Bluetooth module
Added Intravee II with Alpine KCA-420i iPod interface
Replaced both rear speakers
Replaced kidney grills with matte black grills
Replaced shift **** with brand new OEM unit
Replaced taillights with OEM Hella CELIS Smoked taillights
Tinted windows with 20% film

As you can see, I haven’t really spared any expense on this car. The car is in great condition and has usual wear for a car with 81k miles. It does appear that the front seats were re-dyed at some point. Also the windshield has a rock chip and the rear bumper has some fading in one area and will probably need to be re-sprayed eventually. I have 3 sets of floor mats for the car, 1 black, 2 caramel, and the car was just detailed and is now sitting under a car cover. The tires are Michelin PS2s and appear to have plenty of tread left. The car drives great and the engine feels strong.

As far as pricing goes, considering the amount of work I have put in and the amount of money I have spent restoring this car, I am asking 24k obo. The car is ready to go and does not need anything. As you can see from my description, I cared for this car with the intent of keeping it for a very long time.

Thanks for looking and please feel free to contact me with any further questions.
