"Few car names strike as much fear in the hearts and minds of sports car drivers as the two little characters, M5. Anybody who's gotten their doors blown off by a BMW M5 while driving their Porsche Boxster or Mercedes-Benz SLK knows exactly what we're talking about. For those fortunate enough to own an M5, you've experienced what it's like to grin from ear to ear while piloting what many feel is the best sedan ever built, and possibly one of the best passenger cars to ever grace the world's roads.
"At $71,095, you may think we're crazy to call the 2003 BMW M5 a good value, but in the realm of class-leading high-performance cars, the M5 is actually one of the best deals going. For your hard-earned money, you get a masterful and acclaimed combination of luxury, power, handling and exclusivity that has few rivals for the title of the World's most desirable sport sedan."

"There are no superlatives to describe how close to perfect the M5 is for the serious driving enthusiast. Take everything ever uttered or written about a BMW, magnify it 10 times, and then apply it to this car."

It is with a heavy heart that I am listing my 2001 e39 BMW M5. This car has been without a doubt the greatest car I’ve ever owned. Schwartz black on black with all options (extended leather package and front and rear parking sensors). The car is mint, 81,XXX miles, never been in an accident, all original paint. It’s never been daily driven, and has never been driven in snow (it was rarely ever driven in rain for that matter).
All four OEM wheels were recently refinished at a cost of over $1k. Both original keys and owners manuals all included. Car up until recently had an extended warranty I paid $3,800 for that I never used once since I haven’t had any problems with the car. Only modifications are a UUC Double Shear Selector Rod, and a 545i Shifter (common upgrades on the e39 m5). Some pictures may reflect a modified rear diffuser, and BBS LM wheels. Stock diffuser and wheels are back on the car. The kidneys are still black, but they are coated in plastidip and can be peeled back to the original chrome if desired.
As a side note, there are no holes in the front bumper for a license plate. The foreign plate on the car in some of the photos was temporarily mounted with tape that did no damage to the bumper.
Words really cannot express how much I love this car, or the smile it puts on my face. I’m not selling this car because I’m over it, or because I’ve found another car that makes me happier. An opportunity has presented itself, and at this point, give how rarely I drive the M5, I would rather have cash on hand than a car that I rarely drive (the car is paid off with no bank lien).
This car was displayed twice at the prestigious Eyes on Design Car Show in Grosse Pointe, MI (invite only car show). All photos are of my actual vehicle, done my local professional photographers.
I have friends with E39 M5’s. My car is better. I’ve gone to car meets and have seen other E39 M5’s. My car is better. Let me keep this simple, if you’re looking for a clean E39 M5 that still feels factory fresh, this is your car.
