Bergen county here as well. Any comments on the winter tire setup vs traditional all season w AWD?

 

I run dunlop winter sport 3D and have been very happy, also had michelin alpin's also quite good.

I'm a sports car guy, I enjoy a little fun in the snow. My wife has an X5 for really bad weather or family trips, but I had no problems with any snow in all these years, I do think having a manual trans was a big plus for this car.

between traction control, stability program and good tires, I never complained....the car has too much power, and will easily overcome the grip of these tires in any weather....so letting the computers keep an eye on slippage is a good thing.

that being said, I never hesitated to let my wife drive, easy in crappy weather, but again, she's a bit of a gear head, so she understands what to do.
