2015 MF Steering wheel on 2014

I tried searching but was unable to get a clear answer. Can 2015 MF Steering wheel be retrofitted into 2014 Cayenne. My service rep told me its impossible, but i have done this on my previous porsches and hard to believe. Thanks in advance.

I don't want to put this in the impossible bucket, since everything can theoretically be done if you want it bad enough

the last time we all discussed this topic, the consensus was that you'll need a new airbag as well so making this financially unsound

That's the same response I've heard as well, but they also had a similar line about the roof rails for a few year too, so who knows.

I can sorta buy it though as the current model doesn't have on option with both the MF functions and paddles, so the computer may not support it.

I still haven't seen a parts list, but going off the .1 MF wheel parts and prices I estimated something like $2500 for the parts if you had full leather. That's a bit much for me to spend on something that may not work and then I can't resell easily

I don't know about the .2 airbag, but the .1 only lists for $900 which was surprisingly cheap to me. The wheel itself is more expensive.

Funny. I was just searching for this again the other day. Still nothing for the Cayenne that I could find. I did find someone who did it on another model, but couldn't get any of the buttons to function properly.

I really love the new wheel and would consider spending that kind of money to do it. It would be even harder for me though as I have the plain, non-multi-function, wheel with push button shifters. Have no idea why the original owner would order it this way!! At least it's heated.

dont hurry up with selling. buy and install control unit behind steering wheel - it need to be also 2015 version. and only then all buttons will work - but after proper coding.

I believe he is referring to the clock spring.

Serg, can you elaborate on the coding changes? Seems we are just getting "can't do that" from the U.S. dealers (much like they said about the roof rails). Having specific details would be extremely helpful.

not the clockspring, but control unit with levers. but since it can be bought only together with clockspring - you almost right.

correct coding means that dealer need to be pushed to work hard as they payed )). new unit need to be coded for your car, no more. PIWIS II isnt best workshop tool for upgrading a car because of complicated menus, dont know what will be with PIWIS III which I beleive will come instead in month. but! it can be done, and already done for hundreds here in Russia.

ask them - what else? think you have not only one dealer nearby. non-official services with PIWIS also can help.

to replace control unit and steering wheel - nothing special there, any service can do, or DIY.

What color and finish is on it? Would you mind sharing what you paid? I'm just curious as I've theorized $2500 as the rough estimate based on the .1 parts.

I've put a 2015 multi function heated, paddle shift wheel on my 2012 CTT which had a heated multifunction tiptronic wheel. I can confirm it doesn't work! Paddles are ok but heating a multi function don't operate.

From the posts above it sounds like I need a steering control unit but I can't find a part number different from my current unit. Does anyone know which part number I need? Do I also then need recoding?

Thanks

I've sourced a 2015 combo controller (the control unit with the indicators etc..) but it doesn't come with the clock Spring. Will my original clock Spring work with it?
