How do I set up an anti-lag system?
Hey guys, I have been spending some of my time searching the forums to figure out how people are setting up anti-lag systems in their 997 turbos but haven't had much luck. Perhaps it goes by a synonymous name I am not aware of?
This is what I want: The sound is intoxicating
Right now running a 3.0 inch speedtech exhaust with 200 cel cats along with a softronics tune. Would it need to be retuned to achieve this? Also are anti-lag systems harmful to long-term reliability?
Thanks!

It's not for everyone. Some would say, why do you drive a Porsche? You're an obnoxious and arrogant human being for owning a Porsche. But ur not... just someone's opinion of you.
So if someone wants to go shoot flames, let them. The people LOVE to see that stuff.

It has practical reasons beyond just flames and pops....
Cobb AP has a BOTL feature, but it's nowhere as dramatic. Otherwise any aftermarket ecu will most likely have it as a feature, standing/Rolling/shifting.
Not cheap if flames and pops is what you're after ...

You need a standalone for antilag. Syvecs, ProEFI, etc.
It's hard on the turbine wheels/turbo. Just a couple pops are no big deal, but if you sit on it a lot you will hurt things. You also don't want to do this with catalytic converters. Need to go catless.

Took the words right out of my mouth.
This feature is great (rolling anti lag and while shifting in between gears) for keeping you fully spooled when going from a roll as it is less wear on your brakes instead of brake boosting (if rods can handle TQ hit aka best to be on upgraded rods if you already pushing it on E85) , but mostly for keeping you spooled between gears.
Running these newer DSG cars, this feature keeping you spooled in between gears helps a lot!
Great sounding exhaust, now ditch the cats!

It's obnoxious to be in traffic with that set-up and blow fire at somebody behind you. It's not really a matter of opinion. It's a matter of basic human consideration. It's obnoxious.

antilag is not intended for use in traffic jams and to blow flames at people. its purpose is to build boost while standing still to be able to launch the car harder.

^^^ what Prodigy said X2. Anti lag isn't for daily use. Racing purpose only. It's OBVIOUS this guy in the video is at a car show and is doing it bc the crowds LOVE to see that stuff. You're sitting in traffic and revving off blowing flames, yes I can agree, that's obnoxious as hell!!! So stupid. But at shows, it's a diff thing. And realistically, doing it a few times won't kill the turbos/engine. It's a personal preference thing, it's not for everyone.

I watched the video, and the guy in the video is obnoxious. I understand antilag and its purpose. Two different subjects. LOL

So is this already built into the Cobb AP off the shelf maps? I haven't tried brake boosting while rolling yet. It seems like my car with the cobb OTS map builds a bit more boost from a dig (I have an auto) than before but it doesn't sound like anti-lag.

question
Topic aside, my friend recently acquired a 997.1 turbo and was thinking about doing a softronic tune and speedtech exhaust. I see you say your turbo has these mods. Would you recommend a Softronic tune and speedtech exhaust? Is the 3.0 inch exhaust loud and good sounding? Thanks
