CTR = Carrera Turbo R

Actually I'm not really sure which would be the correct forum for this creation of mine, but while it shares a great deal of parts from 996 GT2/3/turbo/Cup this could be a proper place to be.

One upon a time it was an aerokitted 996, MY '00. Then it got some stuff, in and out and now it is what it is.

Specs in next posting, now just some pics.

Very cool Pete! Car turned out fantastic, very RUFy. Looks like you and I are running identical front wheel size and offset. I'm assuming you didn't go with larger rears due to tire availability? With flares you could easily have gone 12-13 I would imagine. I think RUF runs 12s on the flared narrow body cars like the RGT.

Great looking car Pete, turned out amazing. I am really interested into knowing more how the car seats on only 295s in the back, is it balanced enough? The only Rcompound tire was able to find here is the crappy R888 315-335, considering keeping R18s only for slicks and going 19s for semis, but first have to stress a bit the R888s I have and see how they grip after few HC

I've always been a uuuge (...sorry, I couldn't resist...) fan of RUF. This car started as a Rturbo inspired narrowbody build. First IC inlets I did myself, but now when it was at painter's he suggested ones in steel. I supplied him the pics.
You guessed right about rear wheels, I have inner barrels which would make them 12,5" wide, but there's no decent rubber available in widths required. I guess 295 MPSC2 has grip equivalent of 335 R888/Kumho.
Considering front track, it's much wider than OEM. LCAs are 40mm wider (15mm from 997's inner ends and 25mm shims) and camber plates are moved about 25mm outboard with some tricks. I have 3,4 deg camber and with adjustable thrust arms caster is sensible too.

IMO its is, I'm beginning to find out right settings and on dry track it turns in like a charm. With sensible use of throttle I have no problem with corner exit oversteer either. In fast corners it feels quite well planted too, but there I'm just finding out the limits.
2:53 at Spa with these hands and feet, so it's not really bad, I guess. Summer here has been lousy, wet and cold, so no big (just some) improvement at local tracks so far.

Just to confirm, I now use 6GT3's MC and brake booster. It was impossible to get 7GT3's MC working. BTW, the booster has 3.15 factor, while turbo's/Carrera's has 3.8, so pedal is a bit stiffer this way.

Last Saturday I switched it off from OEM switch in Time Trial while it all three races were either pouring wet, just wet or very damp, but it didn't really intervene. Not even in trailbraking. On Sunday's trackday it was dry but cold, switched it completely off ( have a switch under the dashboard). This way it leaves the PSM light on and suggests a vist to the workshop, but ABS is still working. I managed to massage 0,8 sec off from last year's best lap time, but there's still about a second to improve, looking from datalogs. All warnings disappear after next engine start if the switch is turned on again before starting.

Had you looked into coding out the PSM and deactivating?

AFAIK coding the ABS/PSM unit is impossible. Additional switch practically deactivates it. Changing to GT3/2 or Motorsport unit would be the next step, but so far I do not feel it necessary, driving trackdays and occasional Time Trials.

PSM is not coded in the ECU but instead it's part of the dash logic and I'm not aware of anyone that has been able to jail break it. We have a local whiz that does all of our dash coding / programming and even he hasn't been able to crack it. To remove PSM permanently without any nuisance warnings you will need a GT2 instrument cluster for starters but that opens up another can of worms. To do it right is possible not not for the faint of heart.

Most Motronic managed engines with drive by wire have programmable clusters. But you are right, it has to be cracked. Most likely anyone with the ability to correct a cluster's mileage to match you car for a cluster change has the tools to change other parameters. And can for instance be programmed over to a GT2 for instance. Just have to find the guru.
