Popped my F-Hose

Popped my F-Hose
I went on the NE Rally this past weekend and somewhere in the app gap my f-hose ruptured. Apparently this is a relatively common failure.
I did not know at the time, but somewhere in the app gap my ABS and PSM lights came on. I stopped and restarted the car and they were gone for the rest of the weekend. When we finally stopped for the night a few hours later and I popped open the rear and saw the F-hose split and popping off the visible connection towards the rear. I drove the car home gingerly.
It is my understanding that the MAF readings help with PSM and therefore can affect ABS so I am going to assume that those lights came on because the air that was supposed to be recirculated back into the intake was not due to the hose now open to the atmosphere.
Either way, what F Hose should I get, should I just get a F-Hose or should I spring for a full silicone hose kit? If so, which one?
(I have diverter valves already but the last owner who put them on reused the oem F-Hose which I am going to assume was stretched and/or damaged in some way during the install to compromise its strength which lead, along with my aggressive driving, to its failure.)
PS, should I tackle this myself? Seems straight forward and not overly difficult, I am not shy about working on cars, but I have also never worked on a 996tt. All I have done is mostly B5 S4s and Audi 1.8ts.
Tips and DIYs?

You can lower the motor quite a bit by removing the rear engine mount nuts. Lower it with a jack until the transmission rests on the cross support. You should be able to get your mitts in there to swap it out.

Good suggestion by brnrdtns, here's the instructions by Rolfjahn: note the torque of the nuts after raising the engine is 63 ftlb....

OEM is fine. How long did this one last 15yrs? Definitely lower the motor and get some hose clamp pliers. You can do it with regular pliers but your hands will be trashed and you'll offend any sailor that happens by your garage. I bought a plier kit from amazon for $70 and it was worth every penny.
