991.2 oil change

Hey fellas, did some research but couldn't find any threads on it for either .1 or .2, owners manual says 7.92 quarts of 0-40 and with this integrated dry sump there is indeed only 1 drain plug correct?! Don't want to make this mistake lol.

Yes, only 1 drain plug. You can use either 5 or 0 W 40 depending on climate and usage. Both Sam and Champion advised me to fill the oil to read in the center of the operating range rather than at the very top.

Why only fill to the center instead of the top of the range. I'm sure they both know there stuff, but what is the reasoning?

I believe it has to do with the PCV system under high boost - especially when running higher boost than stock. Hopefully they will chime in.

What is the PCV system? Not familiar with the acronym.

In other Porsches filling to the top and running at the track sometimes can end with the AOS getting overwhelmed.

Positive Crankcase Ventilation

Sucks oil vapor back into induction system to be burned.

Don't fill it all the way reduces chance of oil being sucked up. Especially true when it gets hot ...oil expands in volume.
