gearing 5th is 6th and 6th fifth WTF. please watch video ripped off

so I bought the orient red metallic that was for sale on the site couple months ago. I’m not going to go into how sleezy I think the seller may be or the shop that did the ppi. Just wanna try and figure out what the F is going on

so I have been Dickin around waiting for an exhaust for last few weeks. Drove it before and all seemed well except I knew there was a boost leak from #16 Check valve. After replacing it and plenum ( cause I busted the plastic on top of the stock plenum) I finally got it all put back together

went out for a couple hundred mile drive and all seemed well but 5th and 6th gear was confusing the hell out of me.

This may be strange (I sure the fu.. think so)
but when I shift into the upper right gear which is supposed to be 5th it’s actually 6th (or what seems like 6th)

when i I go through the gears 1 2 3 4 6 5 and down shift the same sequence it is fine. (other than it's weird as hell)

can anyone explain this phenomenon. there is no grinding or slipping nothing!!!! it seems to shift perfect other than the sequence

I’m already pissed as hell at the seller but it’s mine now so F him.

I'm just really mad cause I trusted him and it looks like trust is something I'll never have for anyone on this site again when it comes to a purchase.

lesson learned.

Well thats nuts. sorry to hear. check valve leak is no biggie but this seems to be what you are expecting and the gearing was put in incorrectly...now someone else who has assembled a box will have to clarify more since this is something i haven't done.

ya the check valve was not biggie. I take ownership of that one. but he had to have known that the gears were swapped. I didn't even know that was possible!!!! that is one major f up. oh well we shall see what others have to say. I'll likely have my indy open it up and fix it at some point in time but for now I'll just shift as is since it seems to be fine other than the sequence.

thanks

I'm surprised whoever had it rebuilt didn't take it back. Maybe he got his money back and left it as is.

So the seller knew this issue, the shop that did the ppi didn't catch it (or also knew as well). Either way I certainly would be calling them for some $'s back. Don't think I could live with a 6th to 5th upshift pattern.

Hard to imagine that it is even possible to assemble the trans withe the 5th and 6th gear sets swapped.

Yeah, I don't see how they could be interchangeable given they're different in size.

OP, have you reached out to a P-car transmission specialist to get their take on this craziness?

I have a call in right now. When I described the issue via email to the mechanic he said something about clutch slipping. It just doesn't seem to be though. I'll be taking it in next week to see what the hell

Ya the owner had to have known and the shop definitely missed it.

I'll find out next week what's up

That would be an easy mistake to make if you had all the gears off of the shafts and didnt take a picture. The forks might not move the way you think they do and this guy put them on in the wrong order.

It seems your lever is tilted on the wrong side (for car with the steering wheel on the right side) , turn it 180°

Your situation is unfortunate but I'm also really interested to find out what caused this...
