Anyone Up on Radar and Laser Jammers
I am planning my annual road trip and wondering if I am in need of a tech refresh first.
I am running a custom installed 9500CI radar detector w/ the laser Jammers. 2 heads up front on one in the rear. Do these still work, is this set up still effective? What's state of the art today? and is my unit upgradable-that was the attraction?
I also run Waze and like it a lot, just not effective on lightly traveled roads and a good stretch is off the beaten path.
I will be in a state where these are illegal. If I am not speeding is it still illegal to have in the car? I cannot uninstall for the trip. Guess we will find out.

The 9500ci is great, except in States that use Dragon Eye Laser, then it's a fail, as it will not jam it effectively, if at all. AL Priority is arguably the "best" for jamming Dragon Eye Laser, as well as others. Make sure the State(s) that you are traveling to has no Dragon Eye.
In terms of Radar Detector, the rage right now is the Uniden R1/R3 for their range detection and lower false positivity.

so much selections out there and there's really no bulletproof system out there as the authorities keeps up with what's available esp military grade application. I just bought an Escort for $100+ and capable of radar/laser detection mostly for highway travel I just turn it off when driving in the city and behave myself, lol I know some folks with thousand dollars system and still get a speeding ticket

Anyone know what works for all the blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control systems? Mine goes off every time a blind spot monitoring is in front or behind me. And the adaptive cruise controls/auto braking systems also set it off constantly.

Not up on jammers,.. but my windshield mount 9500 has become worthless in the last year or so.
These new Blind Spot Detection systems meant for ditzy drivers who play with their smart-phones while driving happen to use the same frequencies as police radar,... so it just goes off all the time.
Had to step up to the new king daddy,... the Uniden R3. It filters all that out.
Only used it for a few hours so far,.. but MUCH quieter so far.

Likewise, did the same on my V1 and it helped greatly.

Does the uniden r3 use gps to filter out the false signals? Or does it just remove the K and X bands? I’ve read about a few different ways to remove the false signals, the valentine website says the gps way is not the way to go. Another website says removing K and X band is not the way to go either, go with the gps thing. I have no clue but would like something that works better(older K40 installed now).

Uniden R3 DOES have GPS (unlike the R1,. which is the same unit, minus the GPS).
However,.. it does not self-learn false signals after 2-3 passes by like the new Escort MAX 360 does.
What it is the best at is filtering out false signals by the new car tech. It also has about the longest range.
You can lock-out false signals by pressing the mute button twice,.. so if it goes off when you go by a big-box store in K-Band,.. you can lock it out easy enough.
Really there are 2 good options out there now. Escort Max 360,.. which self learns and has directional arrows,.. but is not that great at filtering out false signals by other cars, and runs $600.00
And the Uniden R3,.. which IS great at filtering,.. but must be manually taught some false signals (at least the ones it does not already filter out,.. and I haven't found one of those yet),.. and it lacks the cool arrows. Runs $400.00
New MAX is also quite big,.. and I hate falsies,.. so I went Uniden R3.

Thanks guys, I have a lot to read up on. Just got back form a quick 700 miles weekend picking my son up a school. Ran waze and it was great. If you are not using this as an additional tool in your safe driving, try it, bc it is a great help.
I was given the heads up to road kill on the road, pot holes, and debris on the road in addition to police.

This topic is like michelin vs pirelli, pccb vs steel and sofa vs lwb so you will have to make your own decision.
I did the ALP laser with their Net Radar. Stealth install.
Unless you get laser jammers the laser won't do you any good from the windshield mounted systems, you are done.
Windshield mounted will really just be radar and many are liking the new Uniden R3 for the money. Of course that doesn't make the V! and Escort 360 diehards happy to hear.
