Can Aston Martin program a 2009 Vantage for powerfold mirrors

I heard that even if you don’t have the power folding side mirrors in the 2009 or previous models, you can have Aston Martin technician program it. Has anyone done this?

mjanis will become famous soon enough
My undrstanding is if you can manually power fold the mirrors, then the dealer can program them to fold on locking the car.

to see if you have the power fold mirrors, I believe you just press the buttons for the right and left mirrors simultaneously and they should both fold in.

It’s not on the build sheet so I don’t believe powerfold is on it. I thought the dealer can program it to the button so when you press it near the windows, it will fold in.

But don’t all 2006 to 2009 models have the ability to manually fold?

If it doesn't have the option, it would require a lot of $$$$ for mirrors that have the motors and modules with specific model programming for the vehicle.

I should check into this as my 09 has the manual folding option but I never us it... it would be good if they fold went lock as I would know the car is locked, sometimes I second guess myself and have to walk back to the car

With battery replacement or low battery voltage, your car will loose its memory for power folding when locked. Dealer is the only option to re-enable.

This is how I make sure my car is locked, by looking at the mirrors

Well that is not a good option for me as I disconnect my battery in the winter when I store my car and don't want to have to go to the dealer and pay every year for them to re-enable it

I had the powerfold on for the first week and turned it off. The car is absolutely no where near as beautiful with the mirrors folded in. And unless you're parking in a super tight parking lot what's the point?! I enjoy the extra walk from the sparse parking, because I get to look at it longer walking back to it

And it doesn't get any door dings and stop any runaway shopping carts.

To make sure the car locked you'll hear the cahlick as it locks walking away from it. It's definitely loud enough unless you're in a loud area where the flashing lights are definitely enough.

Has anyone add powerfold mirrors after the fact and if so, was it expensive?

disconnecting the battery or replacing it with a new one can mess up a lot of the settings if you don't re boot it correctly

when re starting with a new battery the trick is to turn the ignition on but DONT start the car. Leave it in this condition for 30 seconds. Let it do a diagnostic of all the modules then turn it off. Remove key. Re insert and then start up. All functions should be retained

hope that helps

AM bits has used mirrors, new modules. $1600+shipping. Programming at the dealer could be $200+ software for new modules. Maybe another $200. Then labor to fit the mirrors and modules. $3k if you were lucky and the used mirrors work ok. Really not worth the time or money.
