Vantage front fender material
Does anyone know what material the front fender of the previous gen Vantage is exactly? Always thought it was a composite but cannot find anything online to verify. I have it looks to be a small dent in mine and I'm wondering if it would be possible to take out.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I'm wondering if heat may take out a dent...

Ahh, sorry. Yes heat will not fix a crack, I was referring to the small dent in mine. Only thing I can think of being composite (plastic) is heat. The clear bra over the top may be an issue though....

The method which was utilized to fabricate the Vantage's composite components in the years before its roll out in 2005 is Resin Transfer Moulding. It is basically a refinement of the long-established method of producing GRP, or glass reinforced plastic, components but with far better quality and dimensional control. The RTM method uses the same family of polyester resins which are used in GRP composites. Similarly, various reinforcement textiles are used, including glass, carbon and even organic fibers, to achieve the composite's desired strength and physical characteristics. It's difficult to say which of the textiles Aston uses in the Vantage's proprietary body parts. But to repair the crack it would seem that it would be more important to find out which type of polyester resin was used and to use the same type in any attempts to effect repairs.
Follow this link for a far better description of RTM than my preceding gibberish:

This morning I went into my garage and touched a front fender, hood and door of my 2014 Vantage. All were the same temperature to the touch.
My point is that they are made of the same material. I always assumed that the Vantage panels are aluminum. The Vanquish is made of composite.

I had a couple of small repairs down by a local body shop. I under stand they used a high strength flexible resin behind the crack and some high adhesion filler on the front. A larger crack would need some added strength added behind,
The material is basically fibreglass but seems to have very little resin compared with say a boat hull. It's almost like dry fibres pressed together with just the bare minimum of resin to bond.
