2007 GT GTC Questions from NEWBIE

I am new and thinking about purchasing a 2007 GT GTC. It is mint two owners, never winter driven etc...brand new tires. I heard about a vacuum leak due to a cracked plastic line. Is this applicable on the 20007 model year? Any information on this car would be appreciated! Thanks in advance. P.S. is there any known issue with the air ride suspension system?

Overtime the convertible top control cables can fail. When this happens it often requires complete soft top replacement, ie expensive. Older forum posts cover this. Search online there are stories from individuals on the subject.

Vacuum line issues are less prone on a 2007. However, there are occasions when the lines behind the steering rack fail. The earlier models had a vacuum junction above the transmission which was problematic and required engine out to fix.

Press the brakes at idle a couple times and see if you hear the vacuum pump start running. The unit makes a subtle wheezing breathing noise. The pump should only occasionally come on. Continuously cycling, let us know. Another test is driving up a long hill at a leisure rate. Hearing the pump cycle on and off that's a sign of a leak.

My 2007 CGT had an issue with the Vacuum pump and lines, there is a shop in NY that will replace the plastic line with metal, this has solved 99% of the issues and I no longer worry about it.
The issue with the dealer is they replace the plastic line with another plastic line and you end up with the same issue in a few years.
Good Luck

Hey John Allen: I'll suggest with your test drive and checking out that GTC, pop open the trunk and have a look in the spare tire compartment, which is under the carpet and a removable (or just lift it up) panel to see if there's any signs of past moisture there... this check is quick and easy to do as well can be telling and is likely overlooked by detailers.
