I am looking to buy my first Porsche, I have driven them on track etc and finally decided on the varient I am looking for.

Looking at used 991.1's (Had heart set on a GT3 but I have 2 boys 6/7 y/o and wanted a back seat plus I want a manual transmission and newer Gt3's with manuals are a bit spendy)

I really like the Aero kit's with the duck tail spoiler. I have found 3 examples all similar options (Aero kit, Manual etc) Anything I should be looking out for? 2 out of the 3 are high miles 40,000 Ish but have a huge price difference almost 20k

If you like go into the market place vehicles for sale and take a look at mine. it is a 991.2 Agate Grey with HRE's on it and has 640 miles on it and is a custom build with all the fetures of a GT3 RS. what ever you decide you will love the 911 platform, good luck !

 

There were only 100 Factory Sport Design Editions made, and only in 2015. I happen to have S/N001 which I purchased last year from a boutique high end dealer in AZ. Turns out it was a Google execs car with Euro delivery. I purchased it with 40k miles and it’s perfect....I do have PDK and the only one made with the Powerkit. BTW, their is no Special Edition “plate” or anything....I found out the cars history from the dealer when I had the 40k major performed and he had the tide bit for me.

You can get the “same car” by purchasing all the options from the dealer new for the 991.1 except for the door sill which must be purchased from the factory with proof of VIN and ownership. Will it be a unicorn and worth a few extra buck on resale? Don’t know as you have shown 2 examples and they are priced just like “standard” versions with the options.

Bottom line is have a PPI done at a third party Porsche shop near the selling dealer....ask on Rennlist for a recommendation, a solid group of 911 owners that give good advice. The 991.1 is great platform and the last of the NA motors if that makes a difference to you.

at provides a couple of years warranty, regardless of the miles. I have a 2013 C2S that i love and have had zero issues with however it is soon out of warranty and that scares me a bit. I love the white color!

 

Of that lot the first is best for me as it appears to have no sunroof. On a manual car make sure you get the black box over rev readings on a ppi and paint meter readings from all quarter panels. Also i like the first one with sports chrono as that adds lots of go parts like pdcc. Lots of these cars get tracked i would stay away from a track car (which you can probably see by the rev limiter info or by a previous owner being honest).

I have just completed my busing process and I have noticed a few things about 991's - #1 - the 2014 have actually started to go up in value in the last 6 months and have stopped depreciating - could be for many reasons (the 992 coming out ay effect the prices of 991's also)

I think your choice really would depend a lot upon how you will intend to use your car. If this is only going to be a garage queen, driven 1,000 miles a year like my 997 Turbo then perhaps a car with 46,000 miles may make some sense. However, if you are going to use it as a daily driver you would be much better off with a 10,000 mile car and there are a lot of them - as that way you won't be pushing up to 100,000 miles as quickly. My 991 that I just bought has only 8,000 miles on it and that is good for me as I plan to daily drive it compared to many other 20,000 or 30,000 mile cars I was looking at that gives me about 2 years of driving with no depreciation on price as I drive about 10,000 miles a year - if I started with a 30,000 mile car in 2 years I would be at 50,000 miles and that would be a car that would be on the low end of the turbo price curve. By 70,000 miles they are really significantly lower in price

Finally, I would not buy any used Porsche unless it was CPO

A PPI inspection is a great idea but unless they are going to take apart the entire car and test it for weeks they are not going to find or warranty against every single thing doing wrong

It costs a Porsche dealer about $3,000 for the insurance through Porsche to CPO a car plus the labor and parts (which varies) to bring the car up to CPO specs - in the case of my car about $10,000 in total as it required 4 tires and a major service and a few other things. YES this increases the selling price but this is all stuff that your car needs - it brings your maintenance records up to date from day one - and you have the peace of mind that all the major parts are covered by a 2 year 100,000 mile warranty. If you are one of the few unlucky ones who has a major failure of some kind then that extra cost will pay itself off with the first repair.

Keep in mind after owning 3 Porsche I have never had anything break expect normal maintenance items - but after watching my friend Nick Murray from You Tube it gives me nightmares what can happen to these cars if you are unlucky - they are very complex and have a lot of electronic gear in them

Finally, if you decided to sell the car after a year - then the car that the car is still under CPO warranty will give the next buyer peace of mind and add value to your car

I would look for one with lower miles and the glass roof myself - I like that combo and CPO

 

IF you purchased CPO, once you sell the car to like CarMax or others, you can call your CPO to end it and they refund you money left over that's not used. Did that with my Panamera when i got my 991

 

I have over 40K on my 2013c2sc with manual trans. As you can see, I drive my car as a daily weather permitting. Only spend money on annual services, a new battery, and tires. Heck, I;m looking for another 40 K. Go for it!.
