Just want to say hello

Greetings from Connecticut!

Just took ownership of this 2005 GT. Dark Green/Caramel. 40k miles. Usual issues with third brake light, Tire Pressure Management. Vacuum pipes replaced 3/19.
I just drove the car up from Florida...really an amazing ride. Averaged 17.8 MPG @ 68 MPH for the trip.
Looking for iPhone connectivity ideas, but I don't like the Ben-Hur solution.

Looking forward to reading through the forum.

Wish me luck!!

Honestly, you're stuck with the Ben Hur if you want to do anything even vaguely modern with Bluetooth. I have a 2005, the radio doesn't even have an aux in. You can replace the CD changer with a bluetooth receiver, but it's pretty janky.

I bought direct from the factory, didn't pay VAT, cost $2,100 including shipping.

There was an old thread from some really smart dude that wired up his own micro-controller and installed a big Android tablet. Really cool, but beyond my technical expertise.

I'm about a week away from my Focal/Ben Hur/Sub installation.

Be very careful with that Ben Hur. It’s actually a 2 piece unit. The screws that holds the face place together are small. There is a ribbon cable that connects the display to the electronic parts and it’s has about 2-3
inches of play if the face plate separates. I beefed mines up with slightly larger screws because once it’s fitted it’s snug so if you need to take it back out, it’s going to take a little force.

Thanks.

I'm going to try the Grom bluetooth unit. Seems like at $145 it's worth a try. Don't need all of the features from the Ben-Hur as we only drive the car for fun. Good luck!

Likewise.

So I just went to Chicago last weekend to pick up my 2005 Bentley Continental GT. It has been a dream car for a long time, but, now thankfully, a reality. I drove it home to Branson, MO only stopping twice for gas. It was about eight hours and around 500 miles of the most joyful driving I have experienced. Yes, over the years I have owned other nice cars such as Vipers, Porsches, NSX, and a Maserati. I did my research and ended up with an 83,000 mile example with all service records and a clean history. I bought it from Perillo Bentley which seemed safe considering it is a Bentley dealer. The car exceeded my expectations in just about every possible way. Condition, in and out, is like new. Tires are Pirelli P Zero all around and are new. It ran flawlessly the entire way home averaging over 18mpg. I plugged my FM modulator into the cigarette lighter and listened to my music wirelessly the entire way home with no feedback or having to change stations. Now I’m back and can’t stop making excuses to drive. I hope it proves to be as reliable as it appears, but even if I have to put a significant amount of money into it, I will still be driving a Bentley for the cost of a new Chevy but without the depreciation.

Very nice! Looks to be the Moonbeam silver. I have silver too, only the Tempest silver. A little darker than yours. I had the very same wheels, but now have black. I've kept the chromies and tires as a backup, but, just a kid at heart, I am....

Send some interior pics when you can. Is it gray? Or black?

Thanks for the info, Ive seen these links before but to be honest with you it was easier to replace the head unit to an upto date head unit. Yes some may prefer the original look but I was happy to change the lot, I think it looks much better, didn't really like the big buttons, the Alpine head unit and the BenHur unit work great ...

Yep, it's a ton of work. Was replying to the OP, who mentioned he didn't like the ben hur solution in the 1st message. Reading more carefully, he should be all set with the Grom. Great unit.

Also, it's very low cost (~$300 in parts) and allows keeping the original menus and screens for suspension, audio, etc. (but you'll pay the rest with sweat equity!)

Yah its not everyones taste the BenHur as the info is not displayed on the head unit, it has a small lcd screen. $300 is cheep my Alpine cost me £1000, 12 months ago but as I mentioned is a great unit ...
