Hi everyone,

I had a nice 2012 991 in aqua blue a number of years ago. I loved it but was temped away by a matte gray R8. I recently sold the R8 and I am looking for a manual 991 S.

There are plenty in the market and the 911t is tempting. I’m looking to buy used around 80k.

THere’s a 16 911S near me. S stands for stripped in this case. I wish it was better optioned. For example, I like a decent stereo and it has the base stereo.

Q. Is the base stereo decent? Should I hold out for the Bose?
Q. It’s manual being sold at a Porsche dealer, can they tell if it has been money shifted? Warranty expires in Nov.
Q. They quoted 4K for a 4yr/48 mo warranty. Car has 12k miles, i’m Leaning against a warranty. I don’t know how reliable the S engine has been. would you buy the warranty?
Q. How reliable are the NA engines?

I am appreciative of any advice.

Thanks,
Richard

Thanks,
Rick

I would suggest checking out Rennlist since there is a lot of Porsche action there. Search the forum and look at the classifieds and then post the questions you have: https://rennlist.com/forums/991-221/

Try to listen to each one, first. Some think the base is fine. I've had Bose and I've had Burmester. Burmester sounded amazing; I thought the Bose was acceptable. I would try and get at least the Bose.

Yes.

With a good PPI, I would not get an extended warranty. The 9A1 engines have been very reliable. Most common issues (COVs) have probably already been addressed and if not, well, they aren't that expensive to fix.
