How to make Airbag safe to swap 4 spoke wheel to 3

Hi Everyone i am a new member and was looking for some advice as to how to make my airbags safe so i can remove my old steering wheel to fit a new super sports one i just purchased on Ebay for my 2005 gt. I know i need to program it afterwards which i will get the garage to do at its service shortly. I know how to remove the old wheel but i am cautious about the air bag. Thank you Darren

This is how I would do it. Disconnect the batteries wait half hour. This will discharge any capacitive potential. Read the following description of battery disconnection and reconnection before attempting project

cerex is on a distinguished road
Disconnect the battery

You need to disconnect the negative terminals for both batteries

right started battery first followed by left main battery
just did the steering wheel swap in August myself from 4 to 3 spoke

Reconnect left first and then right negative leads only.

You will get a few faults when you are back up go for a short drive everything will reset

did extensive research on this over the summer this is the safest option straight forward and surprisingly easy.

Both batteries should be disconnected

I removed the fuse and disconnected both batteries! Then after I reprogrammed the ÉCU to get the cruise working.
