so i had my alarm/key working fine... locking/unlocking with no problems..... i started to have to aim it directly over the car in roder to unock it.. so i decided to change out the battery (i assumed it was old and needed replacing).. i didnt take more than 40 seconds..... now it wont unlock/lock or open my trunk..... the light still flashes so i know its wroking... the stealer wants to charge me $400 to fix the problem.. any ideas? write ups on how to re-program my key??? any help would greatly be appreciated!!!

so it's the remote function that failed right? on 1 key or 2 keys?

try changing the remote battery. it's a cheap fix which may work.

other wise, you'll have to visit dealer. it was $250 for a new key fob and resynch via SST.

Check with Alberto at Circle Porsche. He's one great guy. Tell him that Peter with the Red 996 Cab preferred you. GL!

lol. i doubt this but i know if you dont use your key for a while your battery the whole unlocking using your FOB wont work until you open the car again.

i left the car sitting for 3 weeks and when i got back the FOB wasnt working. so i opened the car and started it up. drove around and when i shut the car off, it locked.

There's a tech bulletin on this on renntech. You can "reboot" the key processor by installing the battery backwards for a few seconds then reinstalling it correctly.

carnerd, did you go to carlsen? they charged me $250 including new electronic guts inside the key and reprogramming. it's a 10 min job at most.
