How to interpret DME scans

This is a work in progress. Please feel free to contribute.

1. Over revs

2. Programming operations

A PPI PIWIS or Durametric scan will determine programming operations, or the number of times a ECU has been flashed. A flash can be a factory update, or an aftermarket tune. Only a bench interface or PIWIS can completely wipe an ECU and make the programming operations reset to 1. Any tuner that reports that an ECU can be reset to stock is telling the truth - the programming files can be returned to stock. However, the programming operations may not necessarily reflect this.

3. Hours of use

On a 997, the maximum number of over revs that the DME will record is 65,000 per range.
