Aim Solo Lap Timer

Hi Everyone,

I just bought an Aim Solo lap timer and read through the instruction manual. At first glance, it seems that the instruction manual does not seem very clear and the device itself seems a bit complicated to configure. I was trying to get it set up for my upcoming track day but I can't seem to do so since I need to be close to the track before it will pull up the "track list".

Does anyone know if Summit Point WV is a pre-set track or does it need to be "mapped"? Any other thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

yes...the unit is good but the manual is terrible. If i recall there should be a way to select a track that is pre-programed

According to the manual you just keep pushing <<< or >>> until the appropriate screen pops up. However, I've been pushing those buttons for days and still don't get the same screen as shown in the manual :(

GPS manager has Summit Point in its database. You can install it on your Solo.

Even if it didn't,

No need to be mapping your own start finish at speed. Not my idea of fun :)

Even for an unknown track, you can take the Map manager feature in RC2 and generate your own track map.

I've done that several times when AIM was holding back on track maps for some reason. And sometimes I just don't like theirs. The AIM NJMP/Lightning map has the right track shape, but the wrong start finish point. You can modify their map or in my case, I just took a good lap and used RC_Analysis and MAP-) new to generate the map.

Documentation is pretty poor for such powerful software. Be sure you have the latest version of firmware, RC2 and GPS manager. A mismatch will cause headaches.

PM me if you need help.

Thanks Dan! That is really useful information.

I was at Summit Point this past weekend and the track map automatically popped up by itself :) I only had a few laps, but so far it seems to work great. I'm sure it will just take some time to get used to. Thanks again!
