When To Set Cold "Track" Tire Pressure

Driving my car to the track for the first time after 20 years of trailering... (and therefore having a stone cold set of slicks or Hoosiers to start the day)

Should I set my “cold track” tire pressure for my Michelin Cups IIs in my garage before driving 1 hour to the track? Or should I drive up on my regular street psi and bleed off to my desired cold track temp? I swore I read somewhere that wouldn’t be the right course of action -- but just don't recall.

Does it matter?
