Are PS2's still the rage these days?
 

So it's been awhile since I last bought tires. I've had PS2's in the past and thought they were great performers. Are these still the best out there? Any other recommendations? TIA.

Yes PS2's are all the rage. If only for driving on the street and you want a great tire for a less money go with the Bridgestone RE050A.

Still a top performer for sure. Others have come out, but still are not any better.

I have PS2's on my 360 and they have been great.

I am trying a huge 325/30/19 Pilot Sport Cup tire very soon to see how that goes.

Only problem I see with the Cup series is that there is not a whole bunch of tread for what those tires cost, and the wear index is pretty low!

I believe this size tire is now standard on the GT2. That should eat up a set pretty fast!

Unless you spend most of your time on the track with the 360, the MPS Cup is a poor substitute for the PS2. You'd have to pull crazy cornering speeds for the street to heat them up. The standard MPSCs are not the same as those manufactured for OEM use on the GT3 or GT2. Compound is different, as well as rain groove width, tread spacing etc.

The MPSC is a waste on the street, unless it's the N spec tire, and I can't speak for how well they perform on the street compared to the venerable PS2.

Very good comments that I have heard before, but Michelin says they are ok for the street. I'll have to see if they are an N spec.

I have PS2's now and they are great but was looking to go to bigger sizing. The 325/30-19 was only available in the PSC series. It's a dead-on replacement for the original OEM size.

I don't drive the car in the rain so that's not an issue.

Don't know what to do now as what you said does concern me. Thanks for the comments.

I'm still on PS2s and haven't found a worthy alternative that can beat it on all counts like ride, grip, road noise, etc.

So the rage, I'm fitting on a new set when my new wheels arrive.... :)

PS2 are still pretty expensive!

i have been on ps2 for 3 yrs and love them...but ready to move to toyor888's after my set of ps2's are finished...have spare ps2 and wheels for street...
the toyos seem like a bargain as the rear 295 r888 are about 350 each..as compared to almost 500 each for ps2's ...

I believe you are correct on this, and this concerns me.

I contacted Michelin after your post. They are now back-peddling as to their original encouragements saying the MPSC's are not good for the road! They state they are track tires.

Great! So now what do I do?

I wanted the larger size but not a track tire. I have them but they have not been mounted.

So it's back to the tire store to find a suitable wide replacement.

I would hope that Michelin would make that size in a PS2!

Yeah, it looks difficult to find a wider than 305 size that would work for you. What're the OEM sizes on your 360?

Depending on how you like to drive the car, I don't think the Cups would be a disaster. You just would rarely if ever reach their grip potential and live with a somewhat higher puncture risk and short life. If on the other hand, you drive the car in cold temps and/or want a tire to last your 2-3 years, then they may in fact be a waste of your $.

If you do end up with 305s... you know what to run... :cool:

I love the ps2's performance.

Has anyone had both PS2 and Yoko Advan Neova AD07s? How did they compare. Price is slightly cheaper, and they're supposed to be a little stickier.

I've already pulled the trigger on the AD07s and I'm sure they'll be far superior to the Conti's. Next time, I might fall in line and buy the PS2s though.
