When worlds collide

This Porsche first graced the SEMA stage back in 2015 at the Valspar booth in what feels like a million years ago. This 911T christened 918 RSR/LS3, is a widebody kit with custom vented and bumpers. John Wargo of The Custom Shop in Flanagan, Illinois built this collaboration that was originally bought for just $5400 before becoming a $200K project.

Who doesn't want this?

The inspiration for the build began as many did for enthusiasts all over the world across generations: he wanted a street-legal race car. What he stumbled upon at first with this 911 was a beleaguered sports car waiting for some love. "When I brought it to John Wargo at The Custom Shop, it was a floor a roof and a rollbar that's all..."

Some sweet digs

The build took just five months and then went onto be shown at SEMA in the Pro-Spray paint company's booth. Under the rear hatch is a 376 CI GM LS3 V-8 with Holley stacked fuel injection producing 534 horsepower and 543 lb-ft of torque. A 996-style 6-speed manual is attached to a Porsche high-performance clutch and flywheel. That GM motor is connected to a set of LS3/Hedman headers and then exit via a dual Magnaflow quad-tip exhaust.

Quite the engine

The 911 is sitting on a Rennline adjustable racing suspension that incorporates 930 trailing arms and a Wilwood disc brake system. The wild exterior comes courtesy of 4-inch widened front fenders and 8-inch widened rear fenders. Adding to those flared dimensions are custom rocker panels, a rear diffuser, and a huge rear spoiler. The fabricated roof features a functional vent with a motorized flap.

Big wang energy

The paint job on the 911 began with a ProSpray Porsche base maroon and was topped with three coats of prismatic pearl and three coats of Wild Cherry candy. Then came the 8500 clear coat to seal it all in. On the interior, there is a custom roll cage, seats trimmed in two-tone distressed brown and gray leather with a fancy diamond stitch pattern. LED-illuminated Porsche crests complement the leather-trimmed door panels and the suede headliner.

There's a lot going on

The 19-inch Forgeline Heritage wheels are wrapped in Continental rubber for a rather aggressive stance. The combination of American V8 muscle and sleek European design make for an arresting fusion.
