BMW Shows off One-of-a-Kind X7 Pickup Truck
Shown off at this years Motorrad Days 2019, BMW trainees at the company's Group Vocational Training, Concept Vehicle Construction, and Model Technology built a one-off X7 conversion that perfectly blends the brands luxury qualities with the functionality of a pickup.
X7 Evolved
Last year, BMW launched its flagship Sports Activity Vehicle, the X7. The three-row luxury SUV dawns all the latest and greatest BMW has to offer, and comes with a matching premium price tag. However, what no one would ever expect is the automaker to create a pickup truck version of its luxury behemoth. Trainees at the BMW's Munich plant revealed their vision of an X7 pickup at the company's Motorrad Days event this year. Think Lincoln Blackwood, but not based on a domestic non-luxury platform, and far cooler in every way possible. While we won't see this beautiful creation in showrooms anytime soon, it's worth checking out all the details that went into creating this one-of-a-kind luxury pickup.

Motorrad Days
The X7 pickup was shown off at BMW's motorcycle festival, Motorrad Days 2019, in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria. Featuring live music, shows, current bikes, and numerous world debuts, it was the perfect venue to bring out this lux-truck Bimmer. BMW notes twelve trainees from BMW's Group Vocational Training, Concept Vehicle Construction, and Model Technology created this truck in just ten months.

Given the main star of Motorrad Days is motorcycles, the X7 conversion was displayed with BMW's F 850 GS motorcycle in its bed. The enduro bike and X7 pickup complement each other well with their on-road, off-road capabilities.

Wood-Finished Bed
Dropping the tailgate, you'll notice a handcrafted loading area boasting a fine-polished honey-colored, teakwood bed. The bed draws inspiration from yachting sports for a sophisticated look, no spray-in bed liner for this puppy. The length of the lux-cargo area ranges from 140 cm (tailgate closed) to 200 cm (tailgate open).

In the Details
Designers of the X7 pickup spared no expense on its details. BMW used Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) on roof components, rear doors, and the rear lid to reduce weight by 200 kg. Handgrips and trim strips found in the bed are made from SLS 3D pressure parts.

Tanzanite Blue Metallic
From the side, you can see how well they blended the X7 from a standard SUV in the front to the lux-pickup truck it became in the back. Painted in a BMW Individual color, Tanzanite Blue metallic, the exclusive navy blue finish develops extra depth when exposed to sunlight. If you're enamored by the idea of an X7 pickup existing in the world, MSRP of the luxury BMW X7 SAV begins at $73,900 - tack on a couple extra thousands of dollars for conversion and you just may end up with something close to this beautifully crafted luxury pickup. You can get your hands on the BMW F 850 GS a little easier and far cheaper with a starting MSRP of $13,195.
