Evo37 is a Road Legal Restomod of the Lancia 037

A couple of weeks ago, we featured a slideshow on S2KI.com about a Lancia Scorpion that was transformed into a 037 'tribute car' through a DIY build. It was certainly a fun creation, and impressive on a certain level. But if it's a true Lancia 037 tribute you're looking for, it simply doesn't get any better than what the folks at Kimera have created.

Ode to the Legendary Rally Car

Named the EVO37, the modernized Lancia 037 celebrates the legendary race car in the best way possible. The original 037 was engineered by Lancia back in the 1980s to compete in Group B Rally racing. It was based on the mid-engine architecture of the Scorpion, which served the race car well. The 037 was etched in history because of its success in competition.

Rarity

FIA homologation regulations also required street-legal versions of rally cars to be built. The manufacturer sold 200 units of the 037 Stradale. Not many of the original race cars or the street cars are still on the road. And certainly not many are being traded in the used market.

And that's what makes the Kimera EVO37 so appealing. It uses the same formula as the original car, but the engineers at Kimera have enhanced it in every way imaginable. Keeping true to the car's original structure and style, Kimera builds its EVO37 with modern-day technology and performance features.

Timeless Look

The main body lines remain identical to the '80s rally car. A few minor differences in the body work set apart the EVO37's carbon fiber body from the original. The biggest distinguishing factor are the modernized LED lights, making it look practically like a new model. It's a testament to the timeless beauty of the Lancia.

37 Units

The EVO37 also uses the same exact engine configuration and specs as the Lancia. Except in this modern application, the 2.1-liter engine is completely reworked and boosted by a turbocharger to produce 505 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. Kimera will be making 37 units of their EVO37, with a starting price of 480,000 Euros. The car made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this month.
