Unmistakably Lamborghini

Few cars are more dramatic from a top-down drone view, than Lamborghini’s Huracan. It might be the smaller of Lamborghini’s supercars, but the Huracan does not lack for drama or intensity. Since the 1970s, Lamborghini’s cars have been synonymous with wedge-shaped proportions. And in 2020, they have taken their more agile car, the Huracan, and made it an even sharper drive.

Yellow peril, for its rivals

The official naming convention for this model is the Huracan Evo RWD. What this new Lamborghini proves, is that sometimes, less is more, with supercars. Lamborghini’s engineers have actually deleted some mechanical features from the Huracan Evo, to make it an even more involving drive. Sounds odd, but their logic is sound, and the results are inarguable.

Details that count

Lamborghinis might be adored for their striking style and raucous engines, but the Italian design is what make them most memorable. Where other supercar brands can appear garish and ungainly in their application of colour and texture, Lamborghini does it just right. A prime example is the matching seatback and exterior colour combination on this Huracan Evo.

Its secret is in the middle

Viewed in its profile, you are left in no doubt to what makes a Lamborghini so special to drive: its packaging. With the engine in the middle, these cars have terrific weight distribution. It enables them to basically pivot around their own center-axis, which creates the opportunity to for amazingly planted and confident high-speed cornering. With its short font overhangs, the Huracan Evo’s proportions also allow for very accurate corner placement of the car, which is crucial if you really wish to link those apexes.

Fine sounds from that mid-mounted V10

The most telling view of this rear-wheel drive Huracan Evo, is aft. It shows the car’s dramatic dual exhaust ends, signaling its purpose. Feeding those exhausts, are one of the finest production engines: a 5.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, V10. Undiluted by turbochargers, the Huracan Evo’s V10 is good for 610hp. And considering how little it weighs, performance is predictably epic.

Designed to dissect the most challenging roads

Where the Huracan Evo’s new rear-wheel drive configuration truly comes into its own, are on open roads. Due to the surging power available in its cars, Lamborghini resorted to all-wheel drive to make the vehicles more accessible in terms of drivability to customers who lived in areas which suffered severe seasonal weather. However, in the dry, a rear-wheel drive Lamborghini remains peerless for driver engagement.

The purest of all Huracans

Without the additional front-wheel half shafts and differential, the Huracan Evo rear-wheel drive only weighs 3,062 lbs. If you consider the 610hp available, that is an incredible power-to-weight ratio. Not only does rear-wheel drive mean this Lamborghini has quicker steering responses than its all-wheel drive range siblings, but it delivers to the skilled driver, an ability to steer the car on the throttle. Performance numbers are deeply impressive with a top speed of 203mph.
