Adding Speed

The paint is barely dry on the Porsche Taycan, but early reviews are already pretty positive overall. But while this exciting new all-electric sedan is quite fast by any measure, some are lamenting the fact that it's still not quite as quick as Tesla's Model S. But have no fear, because Hennessey Performance is already working on offering a version of the Taycan that's even faster.

Road Map

This modified Taycan will be the very first all-electric vehicle that Hennessey has tuned. But they've gotten pretty adept at making fast cars faster over the years. The question is, how do they plan on doing it? And the answer is, well, we're not quite sure yet.

Appearances First

"We’ve been planning to do something with electrified vehicles for a while now," said HPE's founder and CEO, John Hennessey. "We felt that the new Porsche Taycan was the right platform from which to modify our first EV.  Initially, we will start with simple modifications such as wheels, tires and interior upgrades as well as exterior modifications such as more aggressive front and rear bumpers. After that, we will see what might be possible in terms of adding more power."

Place Your Bets

Thus, it looks like even Hennessey isn't quite sure how they'll extract more power from the Taycan just yet. After all, this isn't as simple as throwing a supercharger or turbos on an internal-combustion engine. But who are we to bet against them?

Reinventing the Wheel

For HPE, this is a natural progression in business offerings as well. "Nearly all of our clients still want raw, powerful ICE engines," Hennessey explained. "But some of them have begun to add an EV to their collections for daily driver duties. We don’t want to reinvent the wheel in the electrified market, we just want to make it roll a little faster and cooler!"

Test and Tune

Thus, the plan, for now, is to take possession of a new Taycan soon after they begin to hit dealer lots. From there, Hennessey will put the car through its typical testing process to develop parts and tuning. But at least at first, that'll include mostly just appearance mods.

Fast to Faster

We imagine that the majority of early power upgrades will come from some sort of tuning, but who knows. And it isn't like the Taycan isn't fast out of the box, especially when you're talking about the 761 hp (with overboost) Turbo S.

Stay Tuned

Still, there are folks like Hennessey (and us) out there in the world who feel like no horsepower number is ever enough. And we're certain there will be at least a few buyers who line up for this new product. If nothing else, you can bet we'll be keeping a close eye on how this exciting new project progresses!
