In the realm of Italian exotic supercars, some are rarer and more exclusive than others - and none more special than Pagani. The work of Argentine-born designer Horacio Pagani, these cars are composite works of art. And the latest among them is the Huayra Roadster BC. It looks radical - and is just as quick as you would imagine.
A roofless V12 wonder
In its side profile, you can see that the Huayra has a classic mid-engined configuration and low stance. The BC variant is a special edition, which has some unique features and only 40 units will ever be built. Cost? A pretty significant $3.5m.

German heart in an Italian hypercar
Powering the Huayra Roadster BC is an upgraded version of Mercedes-Benz's 6-liter V12. Pagani has a special agreement with AMG, which builds these V12 engines by hand. Power peaks at 800hp with 774 lb-ft of torque on tap for a brutal experience with the throttle fully pressed. Unlike many other supercars, the Pagani remains rear-wheel drive. The transmission is a seven-speed Xtrac sequential, featuring a lightweight single clutch. Pagani believes that the weight saving of this configuration (about 35%), makes it a superior choice to a dual-clutch.

Sound channels through the middle
Pagani is renowned for its high-quality composite skills and craftsmanship. Everything is custom and expertly shaped. This rear view of the BC shows it's quad exhaust ends, which make a magnificent noise. Although the BC's V12 is twin-turbocharged, Pagani has configured its engine management system to deliver an amazing sound signature.

Got diffuser?
Consider its performance potential, the size of Pagani's BC diffuser is not a surprise. At 175mph, the BC's diffuser and rear wing can generate 1000lb of downforce. For the amount of power this car is putting down and the pricepoint it's standing at you can bet that every bit of aero on it has a reason to be there.

Pretty but grippy
The Huayra Roadster BC cabin is wonderfully classic, in that way only Italian designers can. The seats are leather but feature four-point harnesses. These seatbacks are also split, to reduce pressure on the spine, which is a real issue because the Huayra Roadster BC can generate massive cornering forces. How massive? Pagani claims 1.9g.

A true road racer
With the aft section removed, you can observe how the Huayra Roadster BC's inboard suspension works. Those tires are custom too, made especially for this Pagani. They are Pirelli PZero Trofeo Rs and about as grippy as you can go, with road legal rubber. With 800hp and a weight of only 2685 lb, the Huayra Roadster BC is good for 0-60mph in only 2.5 seconds.
