A Powerful Electric Lightweight

The AP-0 Concept is a new electric lightweight sports car recently unveiled by Apex. Although still just a concept, the AP-0 is a preview for the company's upcoming electric sports car that is slated for production. Concepts are designed to whet our appetites for vehicles to come and this exciting concept we found over at Carscoops does just that.

A Striking Racer

This electric lightweight has a striking supercar profile. Its angular design is aggressive and low slow slung. The tightly pulled lines on the surface make the AP-0 look as if it's waiting to strike at any moment.

Race Inspired Road Car

Touted as “Race Inspired and Road Legal”, the AP-0 features extensive carbon fiber to keep the weight down. Its rear fin draws inspiration from a formula one car and the large rear diffuser is reminiscent of something you’d see on the back of a modern Le Mans racecar.

Dynamic Front Graphics

The front features a dynamic, three-piece light pattern and blacked-out grille. However, this being an electric car, instead of a normal grille function, two slotted ducts are located on each side below the headlights. Their purpose is to move air through and around the vehicle.

Teardrop-Shaped Roof

A teardrop-shaped roof encompasses a seeded two-person interior. The interior is clean, simple and features “smooth layers of materials”. The concept also features an array of futuristic tech including a holographic display unit, a virtual race instructor, and numerous vehicle surroundings sensors.

Bold Rear Taillights

The taillights of the AP-0 are dynamic and unique. They feature a full-width lamp as well as a vertical middle piece. They are truly unlike anything on the road today, making the AP-0 look more like a futuristic fighter than a modern sports car.

Seeded Details

Layered details add to a meticulous fit and finish for the AP-0. A carbon fiber weave can be seen throughout the vehicle. This combined with a carbon-fiber tub, helps the vehicle keep its weight down to an impressive 2,645 pounds despite being electric.

Supercar Doors

These unique opening doors add to a true sense of occasion when entering the AP-0. After all, what supercar experience wouldn’t be complete without a clever door opening? The dynamic design of these certainly looks the part.

Ready for Action

From the rear, the AP-0 looks futuristic and ready to race. It’s no doubt a fast and worthy track machine with a 0-62 miles per hour time of 2.3 seconds and a top speed of 190 miles per hour. Combined with 320 miles of range, this lightweight powerhouse has the potential for hours of fun.
